It asked for a border........

I left this top hanging on the design wall for 3 days and it asked for a border.  The only thing that would work is black and white.  It will also have a black and white backing.

It is now about 49" x 61".

I also worked on the flannel Stack and Slash quilt.  Here are 2 piles (4 deep) that have been slashed and shuffled.

This is the stack on the left in the photo above after sewing and pressing the blocks.  You can see each fabric shifts to a different position but they all have the same 8 fabrics in them.

This is from the stack on the right.  There are 3 more groups for a total of 20 blocks for this quilt.

  1. I really liked your top before the border was added, but that border makes everything POP! It is gorgeous! And so much fun. Love the black and white border with these HST's.

  4. It always amazes me that quilts have a voice that will demand something. Just have to pause long enough to hear it. The border is terrific. And from a non-plaid person, the blocks are super!

  10. Thanks for posting the flannel squares. Love the idea as was looking for "something perfect" for my much older fabrics and still love the project too.

And you're quilt is stunning. The border really enriches the quilt.

  11. Zig-Zag border ~ Supreme.... Flannel squares such fun to study to see the same fabrics in all... and OMG your star quilt finished gorgeously. And it's amazing what the borders add to your center design (Bear Claw piece) always a treat to catch up with your blog.

  12. Definitely looks good with the border and the colour doesn't take away from the zingy colours in the body of the quilt.

  13. I'm glad you had the good sense to listen to that zig zag! A border is exactly what it needed, and I had not clue it needed anything! Perfection. I'm liking the looks of your flannel blocks, too.
