Starting the new year the right way.........

If you do all year what you do on the first day of the year then I will be finishing projects.  I chose this small colorwash to finish.  It is a little under 24" square and is all batiks fabrics.  It is ditch quilted on the vertical seams.

The backing and batting were already laying with it so I didn't have to make any decision except the choosing the binding fabric.  I have about 6" left to hand stitch on the binding and the hanging sleeve needs the bottom edge stitched.

I made 15 bean soup in the Crockpot.  I guess that means I'll be cooking all year too......but not every day.  I have 7 bowls of this soup and I still have 3 bowls of chili in the freezer so there will be some fast meals here.

  2. Like you.... I hope the year goes the way the first day went. Gym first thing, a little house responsibility, some time on the LA, some cooking and some stitching!!! I have a big pot of Turkey soup, that I need to send to the freezer for instant meals too, right after dinner tonight!

  3. What a great way to start the year! I got in a good bit of quilting yesterday too but mostly I removed the rest of Christmas.

  4. if that is true, then I will blog all year. I will also weave a lot and spin a lot of yarn.
Of course have always considered that if that were true: lots of people would be sleeping in and not working - and waking up with hangovers all year. Ha ha

  5. Could use some soup now! Have to make some today. Have to get back to my stalled colorwash; it is falling apart on its little wall.
I did clean up all the decorations, all surfaces, so I am ready to go!

  7. I can see why that back was waiting to go with your quilt--they are perfect together!

  8. Hmm...all year? Well, there was no sewing here with helping my mom in the morning and entertaining family in the afternoon/evening. I hope that doesn't mean no sewing for the year.

    I love your colorwashes.

  11. I always enjoy seeing your bright and beautiful colour wash quilts and was interested to read your comment about whatever you do on the first day of a New Year you will be doing all year! Mum always used to say that, she also did n almost Spring clean on the 31st December as the saying went that your home would be in the same clean and tidy state for the New Year! I didn't do a Spring clean!!

  14. I hope it is true because I finally got the binding on the quilt that's been hanging on my frame since before Christmas! Your colorwash, as always is gorgeous. I like that backing, too, just perfect.

Mr. Mudding and I call extra meals in the freezer "money in the bank". It surely is nice to have when you don't feel like cooking!

  15. You sure have started the New Year off right! But I expected no less of you. I'm off to a much slower start, not surprisingly! In fact, to expect huge changes overnight from anybody is the greatest fallacy of resolutions. Slow and steady change works much better, for me at least. We shall see.
