This quilt top looks so much better sewn together.
I auditioned this fabric for a border. It is a little more red/purple than it looks here. My initial feeling was that it was too dark.
The color is a little truer in this photo. It really makes the darkest colors in the blocks stand out and then the lighter area glows. I will have to look at it for a couple days before I make a final decision. I couldn't find any red fabric that looked good with it. I can still just finish it without a border too.
Hi Wanda! I vote for with the border that you are showing here and I love the color and vibrancy of it. I know you don't hear from me much lately. I'm undergoing some bad health, but I'm still out here and loving your work!
ReplyDeleteI like it. I like the way the darks come forward and seem to be floating thru the reds.
ReplyDeleteI love it with the border you're auditioning! It really brings the quilt to life!
ReplyDeleteI really like the border you show here. It give a place for the eye to stop
ReplyDeleteI agree with the above comments about the border fabric. You have such a good eye for color and fabric combos. As long as I've been quilting, I'm always amazed at how much better a block or top looks with each additional seam added!! Thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh - you are so busy !!!!

I love that fabric for a border, ties in the blocks and echoes the squares in its pattern. Superb as always. where do you get the energy to do all this?
ReplyDeleteI vote yes for the border ! It is perfect, I love it. This quilt is so pretty once you tweaked everything, you do have the skill needed to make a quilt perfect. Great finish.
ReplyDeleteStunning…..love the reds and purples. The border choice is spot on too!
ReplyDeletedefinitely needs a border and the one you have choosen is perfect! first pic not so much, but the second pic showing the purple is awesome
ReplyDeleteIt looks really good with that fabric as a border.

I love the binding fabric. It just seems right.
ReplyDeleteLove the border choice and your quilt just glows.
ReplyDeleteI really like the darkness of the border but maybe one with more color variation would still give the dark edge but also bring in more of the reds.
ReplyDeleteLove, love the sewn together quilt! Don't know if I am in love with a dark border. But I am the kind of person who doesn't like big frames on artwork that overpower the painting.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to add my vote too for this plum/darkish border. I think it works beautifully with all the lovely brights.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the top; but the border doesn't speak to me. Not yet at least. Somehow, I hadn't expected or thought of a border, so the idea surprised me. Perhaps that's the reason: I'm just not ready for a border at all?
