I didn't get the hand sewing done until after dark so I will take another photo of Many Moons today with daylight. I have an east exposure in this room so around noon is a good time for that. The couch needs to move a couple inches to the right too.
When I went over to turn off the lamp on the left I thought this was a nice view of it too. I'm glad I went with facings instead of binding.
I love this quilt. Yes, it looks great with no bindings. I must put that quilt on my to-do list. I started one a few years back but it went in a box and never returned to it. Too many projects to work on it now but I totally love, love the one you made for yourself.
Good morning Wanda.....It's a stunning work of art and it looks amazing in it's place of honor in your living room. I hope you never tire of seeing it there and admiring it, but just in case you do, I am well acquainted with someone who would love it and cherish it as much as you do. LOL Enjoy the incoming beautiful weather the next few days. I will be perfect weather for the Cub games on Tues. Wed. and Thursday. Go Cubbies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think the 'lighting' gives it a moody look - it's beautiful - I could have it on my wall and look at it every day. I read your facings link yesterday about facings, to see what you were talking about - I'm always learning something from you so thanks for always sharing your tips :)
That looks really wonderful over your sofa. I bet it enhances the whole room. I agree about the facing. I will have to try that sometime. Do you know if people ever use this technique for bed quilts? Most of my quilts are large bed size quilts.
I agree with everyone - this is another beautiful quilt! You are so talented, I want to be like you when (if) I grow up! I just found your blog about 2 months ago, but I've read it every day since I discovered it. Thank you for your willingness to share your abundant knowledge.
OH Wanda ~ This is an extraordinary piece that is timeless. Your choice of fabrics and design is, as always, amazing. 'Many Moons' is truly a magnificent 'show stopper' !
I just read all of the comments and wanted to use some different adjectives than everyone else. And most were taken... (*._,*)
Many moons is so lovely, well balanced and whilst the colours are quite vibrant, they are very relaxing. I could rest with that myself but the sofa would need to face it! Beautiful piece of fabric art. Jo x
It looks even better on that purple wall than I thought it would. It is just beautiful, Wanda! And yes, you will certainly enjoy just looking at it for a long time. I know I would!
This is just lovely, a wonderful quilt and inspiring - I so want to make one! Today for the first time in ages I finally felt able to sit down with my iPad and look at Bloglovin, just caught up with your posts and it was such a joy to relax and read about your efforts, I am sure I'm not the only one who thinks if you are going in slow motion that is regular speed for me!
It looks beautiful! I agree that the facing was a good choice.
ReplyDeleteThis looks great on your wall. I agree the facing on this one was the way to go. You will enjoy this quilt for a long time. Chris
