I wanted the quilting on "Many Moons" to look like wispy clouds floating by.
I hope it looks good hanging in my living room. I trimmed it but haven't cut the facing pieces yet.
I make sure there is water in the bird bath every day. Birds are migrating through now and they need a drink and sometimes a bath. We haven't had rain for quite awhile so there isn't any other source of water for them. The robins stand there and drink for a long time and then some take a bath, some don't.
Good morning Wanda.....How could it not look good in your living room, or any place you chose to hang it, except maybe the bathroom. lol. I agree that the simple quilting design is perfect, since there is so much going on in the quilt, in addition to the cloud and moon effect.
Oh, Wanda, it is beautiful. You chose a good option for the quilting, it is just perfect! The drunkard's path blocks make such interesting quilts, especially with your lovely fabrics.
Love your many moons! And thanks for the birdbath reminders! I had one last year, it was a big flat clay bowl, but it cracked somehow - probably during the winter during the freezing cold. So I need to get a new one rigged up. I have to have mine raised up off the ground where my dogs can't get to it, so I don't inadvertently make it a bait station! One of my dogs is a terrier mix, with a high prey drive and I'm afraid he'd find it irresistible if there were little feathered creatures playing in a water Bowl! He seems to need to chase everything that's alive and moves. It's fascinating how traits like that are in the DNA of a dog. My other dog, who I believe is a greyhound mix, only wants to run, and has no significant prey drive. He just loves to run, not chase, just run and run!
Wanda, On one of your pictures you show the backing and batting with the quilt top gently waiting. I don't see a roller for your top, do you float it without the top roller in place? Or is it just lifted off for ease in getting the back and batting on? I keep putting mine back on after everything is in place. I'm not sure why I do this, but I'm open to freeing things up a bit more. I have a pro stitcher, so I'm not concerned that I would shift anything, like could happen when I'm free motion quilting.
