A friend gave me a ride to the Sandwich Fairgrounds yesterday morning and I walked around for 2 hours and saw everything I was interested in and then I walked home.
You can click on these photos and they will enlarge so you can see the quilts better. I was so excited that one of my friends won 3 purple ribbons for the best in a category.
I didn't know anybody was still painting saw blades.
The wallhanging in the center and the one on the right were made by my friend Sarah, 2 of her blue ribbons.
The poppy quilt and the Trip Around the World are also Sarah's.
So many beautiful entries! Your friend must be an exceptional quilter.
ReplyDeleteThere's lots of inspiration in these photos! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Wanda....Thanks for the tour of the quilt entries, which I really enjoyed. We had errands to run yesterday and didn't get home till about 2:30. Fortunately we were inside Meijers when the deluge began and were able to load the groceries when it slowed down some. I felt sorry for the people who have outside booths at the fair and today looks like a mixed bag as well. The cool weather doesn't bother me, but the rain will put a damper of the fair festivities. It's such a good fair and we went almost every year for about 10 years, but haven't been in awhile now. Enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh, just really lovely quilts at the Fair. thanks for sharing your tour....hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Sarah! Her quilts are beautiful! I really like the baseball themed bench too!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to the fair in years - like about 15 I think. That is the last time I entered anything and they did not display the quilts well, they were hung in a building that had no air conditioning and it gets very hot in Arkansas and sometimes September is very hot so they would have a huge fan at the end of the barn like structure in an open doorway turned on blasting away and of course all the dirt was blowing right at the quilts. I was not a fan of that nor of how they didn't display the quilts well and of the thought that I had heard a quilt got stolen one year so I never entered again even though I won best of show that year - in this little county there is little prize money awarded (under $10 for Best of Show) so it was not worth it to me. I guess after that I just never went to see - I should go and see if it has changed.
ReplyDeleteI love a quilt display at a fair! Thanks for these photos. And congrats on your ribbons. I see one with a red ribbon done in redwork- I used that embroidery pattern and made that design, too. Took a long time, but love the quilt. All so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing. I don't have shows in my area. Looks like a fun day out.
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteThese are great. Thanks. I really like the wallhanging by Sarah, the one with large leaves. Do you know if this is an original design or from a pattern?
You have my email, but just in case: epm dot mail dot 444 dot @gmail.com
Hi Elsie, I made that from the pattern and kit from Cherrywood Fabrics. It is super easy.
