5 sections.......

I sewed the quilt in 5 sections.  I will get the last 4 seams done today.  It looks like it is going to fit together OK.  I had to measure it to be sure since I could trim the center section if necessary.

One more day and this first cactus bloom will be opened.  I took this photo in low light rather than move the plant.  They don't like to be moved once they start budding out.

I just HAD to buy this cute zebra fabric that was on sale a couple weeks ago.  They said it was oxford cloth but is more like canvas.  I think it would make a cute tote bag with black accents.

  1. Your blocks look great.I hope by the weekend I can get to my things. I have several things to get ready today and I would like to get some cutting done for variety. I wish I had a basement room like you do. Chris

  3. The quilt is wonderful! Since your strips are all different sizes, trimming a bit won't impact the look. That zebra fabric is great! It would make a fun tote bag!

  4. This quilt is beautiful! I have a question about your string blocks - do you use a foundation, or just sew the strings together? Thank you for a wonderful blog!

  6. I didn't know that about cactus.

I think the zebra fabric would make a great cushion type pillow.

  7. So far, there are no blooms/buds on my two cactus plants. They are growing like wildfire though and get so heavy, the branches drop off. I pick them up and put them in the dirt to replant. I am wondering if they will be blooming when I come back from vacation ? I sure hope the little buds start appearing.

  10. Thanks for showing me how the quilt went together. It helps to know how to approach the work.

  11. Quilt is coming together beautifully! I got some of that zebra fabric a while back, as well. I didn't read carefully before getting it and was disappointed to find that it was practically canvas! I'm sure I would've gotten some regardless, and can still put it in one of my "all zebra fabric" quilts, but otherwise I'm not sure what'll become of it. I didn't buy that much, but I'm not worried, i would've regretted it if I'd passed it up! Have to have them all!
