Miscellany day....

I did lots of miscellaneous stuff yesterday and didn't take any photos.  I'm preparing the backing and batting for the church banner and that would have been a mighty boring photo.

This is my aunt, my grandma and 2 great grandmas.  My aunt was born in 1910 so this photo was taken a few years after that.

  3. My mom was born in 1909 in Lansing, MI and that photo looks just like their front porch! Love the fashions of the period, especially the "pigeon breast."

  4. What a wonderful photo! I have volunteered to take all the photos from my parent's house and organize them. I have three big bins of them to go thru and scan. We found photos everywhere in their house!

  5. I love old family photos. When my grandmother died I was given her photograph album because I am our family's historian. I was able to add many people to our family tree from studying the photos in the album and researching them online. Were any of these women sewing enthusiasts and quilters too?

  7. I love old family photos like this. You should post it on flickr. Flickr Commons has some really interesting photos like this, some from the Civil War, unnamed soldiers.

Did you know that the original cameras took 15 minutes to take the photo and that is why no one smiled in them? Just try to hold a smile for 15 minutes, even 10!

My family is into taking 4 generation photos whenever they can. Ahahaha, I'm old enough to have great grandchilden, but don't even have any grandchildren (yet - still hoping). I probably won't live long enough for that, as I'm already 60.
