I just had to sneak in a photo of this beauty today. The flowers are 2 sections long. They are the largest blooms I have on any of my cacti.
To appreciate the title of today's post, you need to back to the photo in yesterday's post of the dining area with design walls. One of the ladies in today's TAW class said it was so nice to dine with fabric.....we had Kaffe, Phil, Martha, and Brandon surrounding us. The class went really well and was lots of fun for all of the students.
After the students left I unpicked more loops of my Keiko Goke TAW and tried to come up with what my center will be. I thought I might like the dark fabric making the edge to edge diamond (far left photo), but I didn't. I moved pieces until I got the white in that postion with a red, orange, and yellow center and I think I like that.
I have been looking for my Liberty Lawn fabrics and finally found the box of them last night. I had more pieces than I remembered.
This piece was also in the box. It is a lawn fabric too. I'm not positive that a couple of my pieces are Liberties but they are all the same weight and same type of print. I can mix all of these with the silky fine Italian cottons that my daughter bought for me many years ago on one of her trips.
Still another selection of fabrics to work with.Envious..... I'm going to Wal-Mart to see if they have the cactus today. Chris
ReplyDeleteThose Liberty fabrics are beautiful. You
ReplyDeletehave gotten me hooked on both Kaffe and
the cacti. I went to 3 Wal Mart here in Mi.,
no cactus at all, the next day when grocery
shopping at Meijer I hit the jackpot ....apricot
color cactus and red which I did not have.
Only one of mine are in bloom and they are
just beautiful.
The catcus blooms are lovely. I don't think you would go wrong with any of the choices for the TAW. Each one would make a stunning quilt.
ReplyDeleteThe TAW quilt is going to be very dramatic! Love the color of the cactus!
ReplyDelete"Dining with fabrics"....I like that idea! Those Liberty Lawn fabrics are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThose cactus flowers are huge!!!
I agree... lovely, lush blossoms on your cactus. Great post today Wanda, I enjoy checking in daily even though I am not a quilter. But love doing it through you. (*._,*) Kinda cool up here... a high of 10 degrees with a wind chill of - something or other.
