This is what I wanted to try with the fabric I showed yesterday. It is still just half blocks so I can play with layouts first.
I don't know if the light to dark in the first photo is any better than just values mixed up. I need to move some more pieces in the second photo for a better balance of the dark values. This is all that 1 yard will make. There was another half star (2 6" blocks) but that would make it unbalanced. This would finish at 12" x 36", a nice table runner size. It resembles a parquet floor.
I sewed the last 10 strips on this piece (from 2 days ago). It is only about 17" square. All of the fabrics in this piece and the fabric shown above were from a group I showed on a 2009 post. The photo is a little dark, taken with an older camera.
This cute little baby bunny was in the back yard in charge of weed control. He sat there and patiently ate a bunch of leaves from the broad leaf weeds. It was 53 degrees here yesterday and 79 degrees on Wednesday.
Interesting look for a traditional block. The Fall colors make it very appealing. We have 48 Degrees this morning here. Not suppose to get much warmer all day. A/C one day and heat the next. Chris
ReplyDeleteAn Early Fall? Your color palette is running that way. There was snow in WY yesterday... Our temps are cooling here also.... Cute little bunny!
ReplyDeleteThe blocks in the top photos create a very interesting texture. I'll be interested to see the final piece. We're expecting our first cool down today and hoping for some rain. The predicted high today is 86 and tomorrow it's 76.
ReplyDeleteI think it will be necessary to put my hibiscus plans in the garage tonight, since it's going to be in the 30's. Too darn cold for this time of year.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors and the pattern it creates and think both layouts are pretty, but my preference would be the mixed up values, only because it will be a table runner and not spread out over a large area, where the effects of the light to dark might be more enhanced.
It will kill me if I have to turn the heat on today, so we'll probably just dress warmer instead. Much of the day will be taken up with errands to run and my eye doctor appointment.
Enjoy the day Wanda and look forward to seeing your finished project. lv2bquilting2@comcast.net
love that second photo such interesting design.
ReplyDeleteHere in Wyoming it snowed yesterday in Casper WY where we currently are and woke up to 24 degrees - but the camper stayed warm - on to the next stop later this morning.
The way yo have cut and piecedyit it really does look like wood! It's cooled down considerably here too.
ReplyDeleteI like the top photo better with the light to dark, even for a table runner. Really like that pattern you are making.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the name of that pattern? I love how it looks like a parquet inlay.

Wonderful fabric, looks like wood inlay.
ReplyDeleteLove Hunter's Star and I like your second layout best with the values placed randomly.
