It was a little less humid yesterday so I pulled tall weeds in the back garden. There are a few so large I'll have to cut them off.
I only spent a half hour on quilting a wallhanging and then I got 4 out of 7 columns sewn on this quilt last night. I think I can finish sewing it together today.
I had fun looking through all of my Kaffe stripes to see if i have enough to make this quilt in the new Kaffe book. I am adding in a little red and purple. The quilt in the book is square and I want the quilt to be rectangular so I'll need to do some adjustments.
Sunday night I started pulling fabrics for this quilt "Cayenne", my favorite in the new Kaffe book. I don't have all of the fabrics he used but I have found some good substitutions in my collection. I can't start on these new quilts until after the first of the month because I want a couple more finishes for this month. I have one wallhanging quilted and ready to trim and the second one partially quilted.
In case you missed the book in a previous post, here it is.
Thanks for the sneak preview of Kaffe's new book. I pre-ordered it months ago from Amazon, and now it is in every quilt shop, but still not on Amazon! So, I wait somewhat impatiently.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and read it every day. You are a color genius and role model.
Nancy from PugMom Quilts!
Ditto what PugMom says. I'm waiting for mine from Amazon too, but thanks for giving us a peek at what we can expect Wanda.
ReplyDeleteWow, those two quilts you are planning to make will be fabulous! I'm thinking I need to get that book.
ReplyDeleteYou have more Kaffe fabric than anyone I know! It is so nice you can go shopping in your own stash and have the fabric for these two new projects!
ReplyDeleteI am excited to see how your new Kaffe quilts turn out. I just bought the new Morocco book, too, and have a few things to finish before I even think about starting anything. But carry on, because you are much more organized than I am!
ReplyDeletewooh! love those reds and oranges! that's going to be a zinger of a quilt!
ReplyDeleteThe new Kaffe quilt prospects are going to be stunning. Now i understand why all the lozenge quilts are popping up-I hadn't seen this book. I am trying to do 30 min of yard work about 7am every day-it is making a difference-trimmed all the roses this morning so i should get another round of blooms.
ReplyDeleteI like all your choices. Very interesting.Vera.haha.
Love your work, so colorful. Told a friend to check out your blog and she loves it too. Will wait for the new book to get older and then buy it cheaper. I have way too many now and even though I love his books, I will just wait till later.
ReplyDeleteEven Weave, definitely my favourite, and your striped collection, wow, I like this better than your favourite one, What self control to wait to start. Cheers,Jean.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fabric planned for your new quilts. Looking forward to watching your progress.
ReplyDeleteWednesday's post was awesome... truly 'exuberant'.
ReplyDeleteWe were at our local fair yesterday and somehow I hope to get a photo to you of the purple and blue winner. It was amazing to say the least. It didn't compare to your exuberant colors as it was in the soft colors of beige and browns...
Your post today was full of ideas to look forward to in the weeks ahead.
