Work a little, play a little, or maybe this was really work and I thought it was play. I did some cutting for kits a couple years ago and had 2 shelves of batiks not in any kind of order. I needed them sorted by color, just for my sanity, and yesterday was the day. Another shelf has the browns, multicolors, light, and reds. It was fun so I'll call it play.
Also while down there I finished cutting my striped sashing pieces and chose a cornerstone color for another quilt.
This has been up on a small design wall for 4 months and it is time to actually finish designing it and sew it. I think it will be about 54" x 69" and maybe I'll add a border instead of making more blocks. It all depends on how much fun it is. If it is lots of fun, I could certainly add a couple more rows of blocks in both directions.
I had to tidy my stash up to make it "appears" smaller following a comment made by my DH, something along the lines that my fabric collection was starting to get a little out of hand because it was taking up new storage space!!! Eeek! Nothing like a little motivation to reorganize my stash!!
Always fun to see your progressive playing. I see it is 80 degrees already in Sandwich. And must be with high humidity with a 'real feel' of 91. We are finally getting liquid humidity today and it feels so good after a long hot summer. This is to last through the weekend then back to temps in the 80's.
How many inches square are the big blocks in your last photo? I love the simplicity, but as others have noted, it really showcases those beautiful prints.
Love it! Will that gold be the cornerstones for it? I love stripes in anything, but they are really striking in this design! And love all those batiks in such wonderful color order too :)
Oh, my stash will never be so tidy! I would feel lost! LOL By some reason I work better in my messy den,it somehow gives me more creative ideas from time to time (if I can find anything, that's it) LOL
