I got the strips cut to length for seven of the nine colors I need for the quilt. This is going to be a miniature version of one I have already made. These are 1.5" strips and the other one took 2.5" strips. That means this one will be 1/4 of the size of the other one. We had good conversation and pizza at the sew in. A good day.
When I got home I filled my bird feeders and pulled a few weeds. The mosquitoes had a banquet with my blood. I read somewhere that people with certain blood types are more likely to get mosquito bites than others. I certainly have the type they like.
Those are lovely fabrics -as usual.
ReplyDeleteThe study of why mosquitos bite some more than others is interesting. I must have lots of the factors. Type O blood is their favorite with B being second. And movement and exhaling CO2 also attracts them. Thus while gardening your movement, and breathing will bring them swarming.
Love the colors! I will have to get out and weed this weekend before things get out of hand. Mowing needs to happen - yuck! Oh, and there is the weed wacking too! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm Blood Type O, so no wonder the mozzies like my blood too. All bagged up in their strips, this is going to be stunning, those colours zing. Cheers,Jean
ReplyDeleteOh, those colours are glorious! And I can't wait to see what they're about to become.
ReplyDeleteMosquitoes seem to love me too - we rarely see them in the city, but if I'm out at dusk the few that are in the city seem to find me! LOL
Lovely strips. Can't wait to see what you are making.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors you have chosen for your new quilt. Mosquitoes do not like me. I think maybe it is the meds I am on because years ago they sure liked me. It has been a nice cool week and now on with the heat. Windows will probably get shut tomorrow and AC will be turned back on.
ReplyDeleteA miniature version will be cute!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the quilt!
ReplyDeleteHow would Mosquitos even know whether they "like" your blood before they stick you?
I KNEW the dimensions of the original block so why was I so surprised when I made the quilt and it ended up HUGE? I had 12 blocks (added black, pink and had two purples (red/violet and blue violet).
ReplyDeleteI later made the blocks with 1.5 inch strips and they turned out so cute. I had a few extra strips so I made a few rainbow blocks, where row was a different color and the colors progressed in sequence (yellow, yello-orange, orange and so on).
Today we are having a quilt until you wilt and I'm taking a rainbow version (each of the 12 blocks will be a rainbow, but the rainbow will begin with a different color for each block) to work on. This one has 2" strips.
The next quilt promises to be bright!!! I appear to be one of the lucky ones, bugs only eat me if they are starving!!! But I do hate the incessant buzzing while they are trying to decide to risk a taste!
