New blocks............
I got 10 blocks sewn last night while watching 2 hours of TV. I won't be putting them up on the design wall until I have made at least 20 more. The block is Northwind and I was first aware of it when I saw a quilt that Sharyn Craig made and it was in one of her books. Then she did a whole booklet on Northwind. I think I either gave my copy away or sold it. Here is the post where I show the book and the first quilt that I made with this block.

One day you have 7.25" strips and the next 10 blocks. I see spectacular written all over them! I went back to the 2007 post and that layout reminded me very much of Ocean Waves. Can't wait to see more blocks, Wanda!
I went to the old post to read and thought - I love that quilt and saw that you hated it, then kept reading to the end - glad you eventually loved it too :) it is a great quilt
Oh, those too-high expectations we impose on ourselves . . . thanks for sharing that post!
I'd say these new blocks demonstrate you are well on the way to spectacular!
Your points are amazing!I really liked your first quilt and this one looks beautiful as well with again amazing points!
Ooh, I like these!
Wow! These are pretty. You seem to have bounced back from yesterday's low ebb motivation, and I am so glad!
I too went back to the older post, I love your new blocks though and I am going to print this out HUGE and put it in my quilt room:
Enjoy what you are making for what it is, do not agonize over what it could have been!
That is such relevant excellent advice for less experienced quilters like mysel who sometimes allow their struggles to spoil the enjoyment of their efforts. Thanks Wanda!
Those blocks are looking great. While reading your other post I kept wondering why you did not like that gorgeous quilt. I was glad to get to the bottom and find out that you did indeed like it.
I like that North Wind block. Made a batik quilt of it a couple of years ago.
Northwind is one of my favorite blocks, especially done in batiks. I have had a quilt in progress using this block and batiks for probably five years now. I really need to get back to it as it hasn't been touched in at least two years! Your blocks are gorgeous so far!
Well over the expected "Spectacular" this is going to be the most wonderful quilt, I do like the chosen colours lots better then the previous layout, different shades of the one colour rather than pale, and colours. We will have to wait and see, you have the greatest eye for colour and design. Cheers, Jean.
I too went back to your post and love the quilt in the post - it does remind me of Ocean Waves (in the middle of one for HST right now), love the fabrics you're using in this one.
Hi, I'm a new-ish follower. Could you please tell me where you got the pattern for your fractured quilt? I really love it, and have enjoyed watching yours come together.
Thanks,
Jacqueline in Pitt Meadows
I went back and looked at the first quilt you designed. My oh my... that was sensational in my opinion, Anxious to see this 'spectacular' design come together. So far those blocks do look pretty 'spectacular'.
JJM
This is the kind of block I'd never look twice at because it looks like it's made of only half-square triangles, and I just can't see doing a whole quilt like that. But yours will be beautiful.
