Using Australian fabrics..........

Last week I cut the pieces for two Union blocks made with Australian fabrics.  I cut the pieces with my Studio die cutter.  Even though I have a quarter inch foot, I need to perfect the seam allowance needed with the die cut triangles with corners nipped.  The fabrics are busy enough that the little imperfections don't show much but if this had been solid colors, it would be glaringly obvious.

I sewed some more on the fabrics I showed yesterday and I think I'll have enough done tomorrow to show you what I'm working on.

  1. As many years that we sew that 1/4 inch seam can be a tough one to crack. I fight with it all the time. This will be and interesting quilt. Anxious to see what you have in store for us to see. Chris

  4. Wow, I have always love Australian fabrics. They are so beautiful. I have not bought any, because I did not know what to make with them as they are so beautiful on their own. I love your blocks, but I could not sew something so difficult.

  6. I love Australian fabrics! The busier the better! I like how the lilac lizard with the black stripes is located just right in that triangle!

  8. My, oh my. These are glorious blocks with your fussy-cut centers --or a lot of dumb luck :)
I also have been collecting Australian fabrics for a while, along with gathering a list of ideas for using them. Your use is bold and unique, but we would expect nothing less from your artistic mind. It's going to be another great project, Wanda.

  11. I love the fabrics Wanda... Only you would attempt such an intricate design. They are absolutely awesome. Can you see me stitching the design you know it would drive me crazy... (*._,*) Like it would take me a month just to do one.

So curious to see what you are designing with the wedges.

  12. Love all your work, but this is one of my favorites by far. The fabrics are out of this world, and you put them together so they each sing their own song.

  16. These are gorgeous blocks> Love the Australian fabrics. We had Australian fabrics at the quilt store where I worked. Sadly, the shop closed it's doors last year…I miss the customers and the fabrics!

    Love your new blocks!
