I started thread basting this quilt yesterday. About 80% of it is on the table with 20% hanging over the left side. I will baste half, then pull it over and baste the other half. I will quilt this on my Babylock Professional Quilter straight stitch machine.
Last night I got the other three blocks for Vintage Spin sewn but not pressed yet.
Several of my blog readers visited the gallery in North Carolina while my show hung there in June 2012 and met my daughter. Read all about her new venture. You should be able to click on the photo of the newspaper to enlarge it.

What an accomplishment for your daughter, Vicki.
Congrats and best of luck in her venture. No
question as to where she gets her artistic abilities
after seeing all of your works of art. Thanks for
sharing your knowledge and talent with us.
the quilt looks great!
Congrats to your daughter. I suspect you raised her well.
Proud mama moment for sure!!!
Hi, Wanda. How very exciting to have a mosaic artist with such an interesting business in the family! I LUV mosaics--just another form of patchwork. And the quilt on the table is luscious...
best, nadia
Wonderful news for her. Glad she found her calling. Your progress is impressive also. Chris
Love the zig zag quilt! Congratulations to your daughter!
Your daughter's new venture really is exciting. I know you are proud for her.
Congratulations to your daughter. What a wonderful new adventure she is on! Talent runs in the family. I wish her all the best!
Love your zigzag quilt!
Thanks for sharing the article about Vicki's new studio and projects. I have one small piece she made and I love it.
The zig zag quilt you are basting is fantastic!!!
working with color runs in your family - that is great! love the zigzags!
What an outstanding woman your daughter is! How proud you must be. She certainly got your artistic gene!!!
Great news for Vicki! I hope it's wildly successful.
I love the border you chose for your zigzag quilt. What a nice article about your daughter and her work. Sounds like she has all the needed experience, knowledge, and talent to make it a success.
I love how your spin blocks are coming. They really pop out at you
What a thrill to see how Vicki has become the 'Mosaic Master' of her beloved art. I know you are proud of her and so am I. Please pass on my compliments to her for me.
New 'spinners' look great and knowing how fast you work, the quilt that you showed on the table must be under your Babylock Pro Quilter by now.

You know we fell in love with your daughter's beautiful work. Please give her our congratulations,
Obviously that artistic acorn did not fall far from the tree!
On another topic, haven't you often used basting spray? I'm curious why you're thread basting this particular quilt.
What a beautiful daughter you have, and how exciting that she is following her artistic dream. She sounds a lot like you.
Creativity runs in the family. Congratulations to your daughter & you.
Loved reading about your daughter. It was fun to see some of her work too. Beautiful!!
Love the quilt you're basting! Great border choice. I saw a similar quilt recently, and we all voted for no border, but your border really add a lot to the quilt!
Fascinating to read about your daughter; her work and that of her fellow mosaic artists is quite impressive, and quite outside of my area of familiarity. I've always been attracted to mosaics, but always assumed the raw materials would more likely be pottery shards, than expensive purchased tiles.
Beautiful quilt and good luck to your daughter in her new venture.
Yes. I met your beautiful, talented daughter, Laura, in Charlotte and saw some of her amazing, colorful artwork. I know you are very proud of her.
Love your quilt on the table. Black on and white border makes the colors in the quilt pop.
The quilt you are basting is delicious........as usual! AND your daughter is quite the model! What a wonderful gig she has!
This is exciting. I'll tell my daughter, remembering that she really liked Vicki's work when we dropped in to see your work!
I LOVE that border! I just keep going back to it. I see that your daughter is a very talented artist too. Best of luck to her in her new venture.
THat is a big quilt! Good luck quilting it!
