The Neapolitan quilt is 46" wide so I will have to piece the back. have a large piece of the fabric on the left and will piece the one on the right to make it wide enough.
I would have loved to use this backing because it is 50" wide but it just wouldn't make the quilt as elegant as the 2 fabrics that are pieced into the quilt top.
And now to the winner of a Hamilton Beach iron, Mr. Random Number Generator chose number 10 which is Stoney. Congratulations! I will send you an email this morning and you can reply with your mailing address. Thanks everyone for entering the drawing.
I agree with your choice for the backing... the wider one is just too bright and white... to work. Darn... I could have used a new iron.... Congrats to Stoney!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Stoney. Wanda, I think the fabrics you chose for the backing are lovely.
ReplyDeleteYes, the backing is very nice. I always have trouble with backings, how to piece them. I never know where the seams are supposed to go, how to split the backing up, maybe there is no rule. I think backing is the hardest part of making a quilt for me.
ReplyDeletethe 50 inch wide fabric is pretty and will go with something at some point! the two you picked out are great.
ReplyDeleteWho knew you had so much pretty pink fabric. Wow. Love the backing fabric.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing your musings about backings. will you seam the 2 pieces of backing up the middle, or will you do something "piecier"? I love this neopolitan quilt!
ReplyDeleteAnxious too see this one done. It reminds me of the coconut candy we used to get at Sears when they sold fresh candy behind the counters. Yes, I am old... :)
ReplyDeleteLovely backing Wanda, picking up the deeper pink from the top, super choice. Cheers, Jean
ReplyDeleteChoice is made and when you are able to get sewing you're all set. As if I needed to tell you that. (*._,*) I know you will soon be using the pretty floral for yet another backing soon. It really is a pretty floral and 50" wide yet.

Like your choices for the backing. These 2 fabrics really carry on the "luscious" feeling of the quilt top. Congrats to Stoney for winning......now I just wish my name was Stoney. :)
ReplyDeleteThose fabrics are definitely the right choice. They will add the touch of elegance.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Stoney.
I like the backing choices. Please be sure to post pics of it when you get it together so we can see how it turned out.

I do like the two pinks better than the bright floral. Congrats to the winner!
