I cut all five of the Blazing stars with my Studio cutter last night but only got two of them sewn. The navy and red fabric in the top star is from about 20 years ago and was purchased near the beginning of my batik collection. There weren't very many people buying the batiks yet then so I found it on sale at half price and got several yards of it. I have used it in so many projects.
I'm sorry you misunderstood the miscellaneous box that I talked about yesterday. It isn't fabric; I have no trouble categorizing that, and usually by the size of the pieces and type of fabric rather than by color. The miscellaneous box is all of the other "stuff" that finds its way to the cutting table or sewing cabinet and really doesn't have a place to call home. Some of it is notebooks with my lists and sketches, photo pages torn out of calendars for inspiration, a quilted handle for a bag that never got made (but I don't dare throw it away or I'll need it), end pieces of stratas that are waiting patiently to be trimmed, a binder clip with numbered slips of paper in it, etc. The list could go on and on.
I didn't shovel my sidewalk after Sunday's snowfall so yesterday I had the combination of two storms to shovel off, about 5" I think. It was light and fluffy and there wasn't any wind so even though it was only in the teens outside, it didn't feel that cold with the sun shining on me. The coneflowers and bird feeder have snow caps.
Jack Frost visited my kitchen window.
If you have asked me a question and I haven't answered you it is because you are either a Google+, a regular Google without your email enabled, or you are anonymous. I have an email link on both my right side bar and on my profile page.
I completely understand the "miscellaneous" stuff. I call it "quilting detritus " although the word is not totally accurate.
ReplyDeleteLove the hot pink. It really stands out.
ReplyDeleteEach star is so different from the others with the combinations you have picked out. They all twinkle in their own colors. I learn something new every time I visit!! Do you have help with the sidewalks if it is "heavy" snow?? Please don't hurt yourself by over doing it.
ReplyDeleteCareful with that shoveling stuff. The decisions about where to put the misc are energy draining. Putting things away and then remembering what there is and where is maddening. Need like a map or list or something to help. I have to put my studio surfaces away tomorrow as my husband is hosting a Christmas party for the town planning board, and I know I won't be able to find things later.
ReplyDeleteThe background fabric in the red star block is one of the main fabrics I used in my Livin' La Vita Loca quilt! I loved that fabric and I am not a purple person at all!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful design by Jack Frost. When I first saw the picture I thought you were showing some Christmas decorations!
ReplyDeleteMore Blazing Stars that make me smile. I never tire of seeing more new ones.
ReplyDeleteWould you believe Sandwich has more snow than we have here in our valley ? Yes you do... but our temps are the same too. Now Jack Frost sure did leave you with a pretty design.

That's a great looking star too.
ReplyDeleteWhy do the cutting tables collect all that "stuff"????
Jack Frost always makes the most beautiful pictures. My driveway finally got plowed yesterday. The man that plowed my driveway for years quit doing it this year so had to find someone new. Now to find someone to do the sidewalk to the front door. I have a box that I throw everything I don't know where to put and eventually I find a place for it or use it. I know that if I throw it away I will be looking for it within a year.
ReplyDeleteThe " bits & Pieces" box can be the one full to the top, for things with no real category. Super stars, I too love batik. Your choices of colour are always wonderful. Greetings from Jean
ReplyDeleteI feel like my whole stdio is fill with miscellaneous stuff right now! Have 2 presents to finish and send then will do a major cleanup before starting my niece's quilt which will be the 2" 16 block square you made a series of beautiful quilts in.
ReplyDeleteBoth the stars are stunning! That is going to be such a spectacular quilt - I can't wait to see it!1
ReplyDeleteI would not mind light and fluffy. It might be easier to remove than rain frozen to solid ice with a layer of sleet on top! We still have small patches of white in our yard!
ReplyDeleteI always miss reading your blog when I am flying! Fortunately, I think I am getting a phone that will let me surf the internet and stay in touch with my blogs while I fly! Beautiful star blocks to add to your collection! My heart sank when I read your previous post about throwing things away, and then I knew better! LOL
