This is what my cabinet looks like while I'm constructing these blocks. I bring a handful of strips to the area, use them for awhile, go back and get another handful, etc. Eventually the remainder of the strip is too short so it goes in another pile for new blocks. The top is sewn together now.
Burning bush, photo taken through the window on a foggy day yesterday.
Top is excellent. I got a kick out of someone commenting how you use the first cut off. Hey you paid for it why not. Chris
ReplyDeleteThis top is just so, so terrific! I love everything about it- colors, movement, contrast, variety, it has it's all!
ReplyDeleteDid you make this pattern up or is it a commercial one?
Beautiful top - makes me smile to see it!
ReplyDeleteWhat size are the black squares? The quilt is stunning!!!! I think I have to do one of these right away. Thanks for all your inspiration.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful top--- definitely "exuberant" colors in this one!!

I really like the planned randomness of this top.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! This really turned out spectacular!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love this top and I know it is even more beautiful in person!
ReplyDeleteThis is a neat quilt. Also a great way to use up the scraps. Hope I remember it when I get ready to start my next scrap quilt. Your Burning bush looks great. I haven't paid to much attention to mine, guess I will have to check them out. Raining today and a good day to sew, sew, sew.
ReplyDeleteGreat new top. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for using all those narrow strips which are no use anywhere else! Have to remember this!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, colorful scraps. Thank you for sharing your sewing secrets.
ReplyDeleteWow. Great picture of burning bush showing off it's fall colors.
It is always great to see how other quilters work. Love the burning bush. We don't get much color here in Austin.
ReplyDeleteLove the way the quilt turned out. Unfortunately for me my sewing space almost always looks like that! When I'm working on strings the entire room gets crazy as I pile strips on the floor, too!
ReplyDeleteStunning burning bush photo! That would be a gorgeous greeting card or note card.
ReplyDeleteI can't stop staring at the assembled quilt top. It is 3-D, and it plays wonderful games with my brain!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh I do love this!
ReplyDeleteThat's genius !!!
ReplyDeleteI like how they are all different size of strips. You do nit have to worry about seams lining up! Beautiful Bush
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt!
ReplyDeleteI love the three-dimensional effect of your layout and your fall colors are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe top is absolutely stunning! It is so full of life - a really happy quilt!
ReplyDeleteOoooo - I really like this one! So much dimension in there.
ReplyDeleteThese are such beautiful blocks- I really love all your rich gorgeous fabrics- it is such a riot of color and made me smile- Your posts always brighten my day even though I am not commenting much these days.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your talents.
Regards,
Anna
I so love this project...it is on my bucket list, if OK by you. I smiled when I saw your work area...we have the same process when working on scrappy projects!
ReplyDeleteI have burning bushes in in my yard...I love them because they are beautiful and the leaves are so tiny that I don't have to rake them (or feel guilty that I have not raked them...).
In stitches, Teresa :o)
Awfully nice quilt. Very tempted to make my own - but I know it didn't even make a dent in your scraps, right? That's what I hate about making scrap quilts, no matter how many scraps I use, I still have as many - or more? - left!
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt! Putting it on my list to use up my scrap1s
