I have only made C and D blocks so far for this second "Fractured" quilt. This gives a different center than with A and B blocks added. Click on the Fractured Quilt Along logo on my right side bar to see what everyone else is doing.
Meanwhile I have added 21 new pieces to this quilt, 3 each of 7 sets of fabrics. This still has the rectangular center. In the photo below I turned pieces to make a square center. I think I like the rectangular one better but I have plenty of time to decide. I need to make a lot more pieces for it.
I'm taking 4 pieces from each fabric group and making a pinwheel block too. This keeps it all exciting. Working on just one quilt isn't as much fun.
Its always fun to have several projects going... Unless they all have the same deadline!!! I like the rectangle layout better too.
ReplyDeleteI really should make one of these--it looks like I feel a lot of times lately!! Ha Ha...no kidding tho', these are lovely works, Wanda...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeletePeople thin I am nuts because I work on different quilts all the time. I am in the best of company. I do love the rectangle fractured even though it means more blocks.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see the different designs take shape. My eyes crossed over a few times with the first one, lol. Loving your fabric choices, too.
ReplyDeleteI like all 3 quilts but the pinwheel is calling my name-you always manage to do something a little different!
ReplyDeleteI have been watching you make these fractured quilts and I really LOVE them!! I need to get with the program and start making some of them!!
ReplyDeleteso many different looks! keeps you thinking doesn't it.
ReplyDeleteLookin' good, Wanda! I love your fabric choices... the lights really make the darks "pop." These quilts are so much fun!
ReplyDeleteOMG... great post again today Wanda. Full of energy for sure. It always amazes me ... one block that YOU can spin into so many different designs.
ReplyDeleteJJM
How fun!!! I love seeing all of the possibilities.
ReplyDeleteLove the fractured version with C and D only . . .
ReplyDeleteHas anyone mentioned lately that you are amazing ??!?!?!?!!!
Hugs!
I like the rectangle center better also. I always have many projects going at the same time. Then it isn't so boring. Enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeleteIn the first one I love how your angles seem to be sharper. I will cut more radical angles in my second quilt.
ReplyDeleteHey Wanda,
ReplyDeleteDO you start with 5 1/2" squares and then cut them at an angle? I googled for the pattern, but couldn't find it. otterpc@aol.com
These are all amazing Wanda!
ReplyDeleteI like how the same block can be turned to create so many different designs!
ReplyDeleteI love the energy of the one at the top with the C and D blocks.
ReplyDeleteNot sure whether I prefer the square or rectangular center.
It's interesting that although the pattern calls for square one patch blocks in the center, both you and your friend made the design decision to not have that, and I think you are both right. Perhaps the original idea comes from the traditional log cabin block where you were supposed to put a red "chimney"?
The first layout is my favorite, also the pinwheel layout.
ReplyDeleteHA! Two quilts! What a wonderfully silly girl you are! I got so drawn in looking at all your fabrics! YUM!
