I didn't go back to the fair yesterday but I took quite a few photos on Thursday. Here is one more wall of quilts with afghans hanging on the top bar.
Here is a close up of one in the center of the photo above. It is my friend Sarah's. I really like quilts with lots of floral fabrics.
This is another of Sarah's quilts. She starched the t-shirts instead of using interfacing and it worked great. It is a really large quilt and the interfacing would have added so much weight to it.
I really like the colors in this one. I didn't find out who made it.
Yo-yos are appliqued on this quilt.
I have mentioned before that our county fair is the largest county fair in IL. There are several buildings with entries of all sorts. This is all wood carvings.
In this same building are the doll clothes entries. There were categories with dressed dolls and just doll clothes.
Thanks for sharing your pictures from the fair. I enjoyed browsing through them with my morning coffee. Please tell your friend, Sarah, that I really love her floral quilt! Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteWow some real 'eye candy' at the fair. Would love to see the wood working too. Yep, I'll be attending... and lets not forget the 'fair food'!!!
ReplyDeleteThere are some real beauties in this group. Sarah is a gifted quilter.
ReplyDeleteWhat great pictures of the entries. It looks like there was terrific participation. I like Sarah's idea of the starch for those t-shirts!
ReplyDeleteNo wonder you could wander for several hours at the fair. Wonderful exhibits and lots of participation. I like how Sarah quilted the T-shirt quilt, and the starch idea is a good one.
ReplyDeleteI love fair time! My friends and I are going to our local county fair on the 20th. Already so excited!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your pictures.
I pointed out Sarah's quilt to my husband while we were looking at them at the fair....it's really pretty !! May have to try one like that !
ReplyDeleteThe quilts are all so pretty, but the mariner's compass really caught my eye!
ReplyDeleteLove the woodworking - those birds are amazing!
Hi, Wanda. This reminds me so much of going to the State Fair as a kid. Fairs are so cool!
ReplyDeletebest, nadia
Thanks for sharing a peek into your fair. Our state fair is on now, and I can't wait to go see all the quilts. But ours are hung up so high that I get a crick in my neck looking at them!
ReplyDeleteA tip for you: When I did a T-shirt quilt (actually the back of another quilt) I used a lightweight interfacing. Worked like a charm and added almost no weight.
Thanks for sharing your county fair. Our county fair is one of the largest county fairs in Virginia but not nearly as large as yours. I love the batik bars quilt in the corner of one of your shots...so colorful. I do love batiks! My sister, who does not sew a stitch, loved your friends flower quilt. Now she wants one :-)
ReplyDeleteI like the dolls and carvings. The quilts are pretty, especially Sarah's
