Play day...........

I started out my playing by separating the 16 patch blocks into warms and cools.

That wasn't really very exciting so I then merged both groups into one.  I really wanted some instant gratification so I got approval from my two sewing friends and went ahead and sewed the blocks into a top.

I designed it vertically but decided to turn it horizontal to see how it looks that way too.  It measures about 41" x 53".  If I continued naming these quilts with the garden theme, this one is "English Flower Garden".

I also worked a little on my paper piecing quilt "Stepping Stones" and have the first 2 columns completed and the third one about half done.

I love your blog, your quilts, your garden. Look forward to checking out what is happening in your world. What do you do with ALL of the quilts you make?

It doesn't have the same intensity as the others....(2.5), but at least it isn't an impostor... like the pastel one!!!!

Right on the money with this one! Love the vibrant mix, just like an English garden. Perfect name for it.

Awesome! One of my favorite pieces! So vibrant and colorful.
I'm enjoying your 16 patch series. I think I'll use some of my pastels for sweet baby quilts.

Merging the blocks together was a good move. It does remind me of an English cottage garden. Have you quilted any of the garden series quilts or will you quilt them once you have a number of these tops completed? I think these garden quilts are gorgeous and would be spectacular all hung in a group.

You've done it again, Wanda - I couldn't imagine all those blocks in one quilt but it is a stunning garden!

English garden is supreme, just love this one. Merging your cool with the warm blocks made a spectacular design. Horizontal or vertical it is stunning.

It does look like a lovely English Flower Garden - I love it! It would be fun to see all your garden quilts hanging side by side - what a wonderful feeling of summer they would give!

English Flower Garden is gorgeous . . . like the cottage-style flower garden my paternal grandparents house (and yes, he came over from England as a child).

Beautiful!!

I LOVE it! It is just perfect. Isn't it fun when play turns out something you really like!

Once again: the whole is better than the sum of its parts.

Combining the two colorways brings out the snap in both of them.

I haven't been following your blog that long, but I don't believe you do much (if any) applique. I can envision a large flower, or a large bouquet, appliqued on these assembled blocks.

What beautiful blocks!

I'm not sure why, but I particularly love this one. You've got the lavender thing going, and the green, but balanced with strong warms -- and then there are a few red flowers peeking out!
