I made my first Rattlesnake block in the morning yesterday, another before I went to visit Dad and the last one last night. I would have made one more but the rest of the foundation papers were in the basement. There are basically 3 color groups, dark, light and red. Each block is supposed to have one part from each color group in it. I have only done one with red corners so far. One of my readers reminded me that this is the year of the snake in the Chinese calendar. It looks like I picked the right year to make this quilt.
I started digging for more reds and came up with 9. They look too light here but they are deeper toned than they photographed. I have started cleaning the basement for my art quilters who will come next Monday so I will get these cut today and the extra put away. Once again I have 4 tables to clear off.
Woman's work is never done. Just when you get started cleaning gets in the way. Looks like you are making progress. Hope your Dad was doing ok. Chris
ReplyDeleteThe blocks are great! Nice you found more red. When will you remove the foundation paper? That job I always found to be a pain. You will definetly have to show us the mess that results from the great paper removal!
ReplyDeleteIt's a lot of work, but I know you really enjoy your art quilting group and it does give you a schedule for keeping things tidy. If my grandsons don't come for a visit soon and force me to clean up my sewing room, I'll never see it clean again! Love your blocks, but squirm every time I see their name. Rattlesnakes are very much a reality here.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that it was not my favorite when I saw the first block-I should have known better. They look wonderful together-love the red!
ReplyDeleteIt's coming along very nicely! That's a great stack of reds to add too!
ReplyDeleteThese blocks are looking amazing...I've been watching.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how quickly we can fill up a table or four!
ReplyDeleteI always typed in the verification first before I comment anymore. Sometimes it is easy to read other times barely able to see what they actually display.
ReplyDeleteYour stash of flannel's is greater than any fabric shop, I've ever been too. Just fun to see your new blocks and now your stash of reds.

Oh, but what luxury to have that much room to spread out! Your rattlesnake blocks are looking so good!
