After all of the finishing and deadlines earlier this month I'm feeling a little guilty spending a whole day cutting and sewing on this quilt. It is guilty pleasure though......... Here are the 4 new completed blocks, 3 of them new background fabrics.
I made 3 more of the 7" blocks. They are all scrappy, cut out of the leftovers after I die cut the rest of the pieces.
So far I have 12 large and 4 small blocks made. I need to concentrate on the 10.5" blocks today. I haven't made a whole block yet, just the trial corner to make sure my measurements were right. I can see I need to make a couple more blocks with that lightest background fabric so it doesn't stand out so much.
Beautiful! Working with the values using Kaffe, etc., fabrics is so much fun!
ReplyDeleteThose look great together Wanda. Can hardly wait to see it finished.
ReplyDeleteawesome as usual. Wish I could retire sooner rather than later.
ReplyDeletemeeting the deadline is great, now you deserve the fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the blocks - well all but one, but as I looked it made me realize why there is such a huge variation in quilts out there. I know by the time you finish your quilt I won't even be able to find the one square that bothers me now. Our personalities add so much to the quilts we make. As I have written before, I love how you use color so I know it will work out beautifully, but thanks for making me think that works in progress can grow beautifully with a little effort.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great quilt so far. Bear paw is one of my favorite patterns and using Kaffe gives it a totally different look. Love it so far!
ReplyDeleteMan, I just LOVE these FABRICS!!! Totally gorgeous---love the light green background...
ReplyDeleteHope you have more fun today. Sometimes it is really enjoyable to do one project from start to finish.
ReplyDeleteLovely! Must say, I am loving those busy background fabrics!Especially 3 of the 4 in today's new blocks. Not what I would normally gravitate toward - but I think I should! and will! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I like about your quilts is the combination of colors you use, that I would never think about putting together. I like the blocks you've done, and look forward to seeing your finished quilt. Do you have a number goal in mind for 2013?
ReplyDeleteThe Bear Paws are beautiful. Don't ever feel guilty about sewing or quilting!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! You've got a great stash of lights.
ReplyDeleteWell, isn't it good there's no one standing over you with a whip telling you what to do?!! Your bear paws look great. I especially like how you're using the smaller ones in with the larger, and of course I love your fabrics and combinations. It's going to be a beauty!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful, Wanda! You use the Kaffe fabrics so well. I was looking at my pitiful stash of Kaffes last night and wishing I had more lights. I'm also looking forward to the finished product - and to seeing the steps along the way.
ReplyDeleteOh so pretty!
ReplyDeleteSo tempting!
The blocks are beautiful! I don't think I've ever seen a bear's paw quilt that has been so much fun to look at!
ReplyDeleteBear Paw... I know that is the given name for this design... but OMG this is a beauty far beyond any old bear. It is just thrilling to look at.
ReplyDeleteJJM
I like the two ways you have laid the out!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be a beautiful quilt! I love that you used patterned lights as opposed to a solid.
ReplyDeleteI can see your magic working, Wanda!
ReplyDeleteHugs
Yummy! And I just want to point out that guilty rhymes with "quilty"!
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful quilt made by "Wanda"!!! Your stash seems like a store. Wish I had all the beautiful fabrics that you have. Enjoy the day as snow is supposed to be coming off and on this next week. Stay warm also.
