Table runner #3......

I'm auditioning this fabric for the binding on table runner #3.
I'm checking it with the backing fabric too.
I think it worked pretty well.
A little bit of all three.
There is a free log cabin ebook available for download here.  It was done by Fons and Porter and it has a good variety of quilt examples as well as charts for how many and what size to cut the logs.  I think I will be referring to it for the cut sizes instead of figuring them out myself.  It covers the traditional block, courthouse steps and the chevron versions.  It is a PDF file to download to your computer.  I have a bunch of pieces leftover from my last batik log cabin quilt so I may add some Kaffe fabrics and make another quilt or maybe a table runner and some mug rugs.  I love log cabin!

  1. Very interesting colors. The PDF is quite good reference for the blocks. Next couple days are going to be good to stay in and get things done with all the snow. Maybe I will try some tablerunners also. Chris

  2. Good morning, Wanda. You are always up early and blogging, so I check out what is new with you each morning. The binding and backing are perfect for your table runners! I also want to thank you for the information about the free download of the log cabin ebook. It is now on my computer and you're right, it has great charts for the different sizes. I appreciate you passing this along. I'm going to share it on my blog too.

  4. The table runners turned out beautiful! The fabric you used on the binding and back is wonderful and happy! I have a book on log cabin quilts that I bought years and years ago. Very traditional stuff. Maybe I will dig it out and post a picture of it tomorrow so everyone can have a good laugh! I have always love the log cabin block too. I have a quilt top that is partially hand quilted that I started over 30 years ago and it is still not done. Can you even imagine the fabric that is in that quilt?! I need to get it out and finish it! Maybe I will post it tomorrow too for additional laughter!

  14. I just finished "thumbing" thorugh the log cabin book and was really impressed with their ideas. And I think the combination of their ideas and your fabric choices will make one, or more, beautiful quilts.

  17. Wanda, thank you for the log cabin link. LOTS of information, I too usually figure out my own sizes for log cabins. Like to have them precut. Need to print this one out and have at the cutting table.
