One decision made......

I took the 6 least favorite blocks of the 22 and sewed the top of one table runner.  I may add a strip of fabric at each end to make it a little longer.  I want to test the 12 weight thread on this one and make sure it isn't too heavy for the batik fabrics.
This is the spool I chose to use.
I know that the labels come off the ends of these spools so I mark the number with a fine point permanent marker.  That way if I run out of one I know what color to buy.  I went back and added -12 to the labels too since I have some of the 30 wt. also and could get them mixed up.
When I came home yesterday I noticed several trees up the block were turning color too.  The leaves are starting to drop so it is time to get the photos taken.
This is the view looking at my back yard neighbor's house.  I may have to go over on that block and see the yellow tree that is at the right edge of the picture.

  1. I love making smaller items like the runner. It will be fun to quilt. What will you use in the bobbin for the 12 wt! That's a good idea to mark the spool.
It's going to be a pretty runner!

  2. Keep the fall pics coming. I live in Texas where the leaves turn brown in December, just before they fall off the trees. Beautiful color.

  3. I loved seeing all the fall leaves - while I was in Wisconsin in September and on the way home last week - here though - very little color and won't be much until closer to November.
Love the idea for marking the number on the thread.

  4. Great idea to mark your threads. I do it with my embroidery threads and it has paid off over and over again. Those are some gorgeous colors.

  7. Even your less favorite blocks have come into it's own. And now the 'frosting' on the cake with your wonderful thread.

Wind has moved the forest fire smoke out of the valley after 12 weeks of coping in suffocating smoke. Temps have been awesome but unable to get out and enjoy them because of the thick smoke. Weather guys tell us high in the 50's tomorrow... cold front to move in and heavy frost is forecast.

    Love those Autumn leaves.

  9. What a smart idea to write the thread number on the spool.
We were out today doing errands and the trees here are getting very colourful. Of course I forgot to bring the camera.

The photo of your thread echoes the colors of the trees in the next photos. Did you do that on purpose?
