I sewed the top together last night and see that I hung it upside down to the photo the other day. I am still looking for a backing and thought this folk art print from Kaffe Fassett looks pretty nice with it.
Here is the same print in another colorway. I like both of them. The Streak of Lightning zig zag is all made from the stash packs from Vicki Welsh. She added some new ones that are awfully tempting......
I bought my paint yesterday so now I'm committed to finishing the job, 4 more walls in the L shaped room. I will start with the easy ones and end up with the fussy painting on the windows. With my short attention span it will probably take more than a week to finish the job.
Even if you do a wall a day it will look nice when it is done. I like the second border audition. Chris

I was going to vote for the second Kaffe Fasset fabric, but the more I look at them, the more I like the first one better. Once again, your eye is fabulous, because they are both inspired choices.

Btw, the first quilt on your Aug. 28 post reminds me of one I made in the early 90's. It, too, is a big quilt.

Wanda, your zig-zags really sparkled in the thumbnail photo under "Blogs I Follow" on my blog. I have been amazed as of late how a photo of a work or work in progress can be so helpful and reviewing details that weren't noticeable before. I was really struggling with an applique piece, but a photo of the work showed me exactly what I needed to do.

ReplyDeleteZig zag is looking great. Both your backing choices look nice, but I favor the top one as it seems to bring out the orangey-red of some of the blocks.

ReplyDeleteSo right now it looks close to a tie as to what backing people choose. I go for the second one only because it is closer to colors I would use in my house. Either way it will be beautiful. I hate painting and haven't done it in years. The last painting I did was in Florida painting exagerated flowers on a bathroom wall. Now that's my kind of painting. LOL Good luck and hope it all goes well.

I used to love painting walls. I am not sure if I like it that much any more.
