The art quilters came yesterday, one of the few beautiful cooler summer days we have had. We had lots of fun and one of them is coming back today to baste a quilt on my clean tables. Last night I started cutting for the next project, 2 modular quilts for twin boys. I only got about a third of the fabrics cut but it is a good start.
I love fabric with words and couldn't resist this tree related one. It will work well in these nature inspired quilts.
We have had nice weather too, the last few days. I can already tell that fall is not far behind. :( I love that fabric too. I am not sure what it is, but fabrics printed with words draw me in too!
We are exoected to hit a high of 102 today...no fun there. Between the temps, the Olympics and a life-long aversion to house cleaning, I'm getting a lot of quilting done too!
That text fabric is great! I will add a lot of interest to the quilt. It was cooler here too YEAH! I slept with the windows open last nigh. What a wonderful change!
The tree/shrub text fabric is great...any chance you have the selvedge to see the name/company that printed it? I teach plant ID so it would be especially fun to get my hands on some. Thanks for your ever informative and always wonderful blog!
I was just wondering the same as commenter above. Any selvage with the info? I am especially fond of fabric with words or letters and selvages as well. Would like to know manufacturer and name of the fabric if that is still on your fabric piece. Bet those girls had a nice day at your house.
we had a week of nice weather with sunshine, now its back to raining. I would trade for some sunshine. lol. your fabric is looking good. wonder what you come up with. hugs Kerstin
Your fabrics for the nature quilts are wonderful. I can see the fabrics all compliment the nice big square of blue water, mountains and fisherman. And the butterfly piece really caught my eye. But love all the fabrics.
Will you be making two identical quilts for the twins ?
I've been quilting and reading the Q magazines for 40+ years, but I still don't know what a "modular" quilt is. Enlighten me, Wanda. Is is something new, or did you invent a new quilty thing? Fabrics are great for boys, not too adolescent either. They can use these quilts into their older years. Hugs
Your modular quilts interest me. You have talked about them before. I've though about your post all day. I'm not sure how your blocks fit together. I tried a google search for 'modular quilt pattern' and didn't find one. Is there a book about how to make Modular Quilts?
Thank you so much for this post. I want to let you know that I posted a link to your blog in Creative Busy Bee Craft Inspirations, under the Page 5 post on Aug. 18, 2012. Thanks again.
The weather is changing again. Time to stay in and get some more sewing done. Looks like you have the next project all started. Stay cool. Chris
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the progress on your new project! Love that "tree" fabric.

ReplyDeleteOur "cooler weather" yesterday was not so cool. The humidity stayed high and it was hotter than predicted. (sigh)
ReplyDeleteIt's sure hot here in California! Have been staying inside and getting lots of quilting done.

It will be fun to make quilts for twins.
ReplyDeleteLove that fabric!!
I must know the name/manufacturer of that tree-text fabric. It would be SO perfect for a tree quilt I'm making for my tree-obsessed son.
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
