Yesterday afternoon it rained....hard.....quite an event this summer. The white streak on the street is a 'wave' of rain being pushed along by the high winds. The weatherman said we haven't had this kind of rain for a month and a half and I agree. Some towns near us got 1.75" in the half hour it rained so I'm guessing we got about the same and maybe more. I could see the rainwater in the birdbath in the backyard from the kitchen window and I think it had to be 2" or more to bring it up to that level. So that was the event of the day after a very hot and tropical humidity start to the day.

Lovely!! Hard to imagine the heat, we are still very wintry and cold ...
Hi Wanda , sadly this is an everyday occurance in England this summer .
Could I enquire ? Is the zig zag pattern in one of Kaffe's books . I do have his books .
We got 1.3 inches here, but the wind was horrible. Lots of tree and building damage. North of here two grain bins collapsed. But the flowers and the yards needed the rain. Chris
That's a lovely picture of a rainfall; so nice to get a gully-washer. Karmen
We need some rain too. We've had lots of really hot weather and thunderstorms have been forecast for a few days but none yet.
It seems that every rain we have had this summer has been fast and heavy - but not frequent. I like those "soft summer rains" a whole lot better.
Glad you hear you got some much needed rain! Hope it's more frequent from here on out...
All your plants are yelling "Thank you" for the rain.
Gene and I live in pretty much the same part of the country where we are not getting almost daily rain. No complaints here. We have been having nice sunny (hot) mornings and early afternoons with late afternoons and evening rains, sometimes hard like yours. But it has kept everything green and we don't have to add water to the pool as often. ;-)
That's the kind of weather that is predicted for us today. We really need it! Yesterday was hot and humid. My plants are beginning to give up.
I'm so glad someone had rain!! We need it too, hopefully we will get some this week - we need rain and more rain.
Karen
wow! Send me some! 110 in the shade here...keeps me quietly hand stitching by the AC. Really liked your dotty zigzag. Very interesting fabric to use as a background. Your neatly folded fabrics put me to shame! I think I need to do some straightening up, if only I could move.
best, nadia
We are just getting some rain now (finally - yesterday's heat was incredible!) and it is such a blessing. I hope it rains all day.
We got some rain too Wanda! I'm not sure how much but it really was windy and poured but only for about 20 minutes.
We had sudden, gushing rain for about 20 minutes. When it stopped, it was even more humid than before. Ugh.
I bet you really needed this. We finally have summer. I've gone into eastern WA two weekends in a row, it's in the 90's there. We are finally having some heat here on the coast, mid 80's here in the NW. Summer has arrived!
I bet all of your beautiful outdoor plants are soaking it up and happy. Feel like forever since we've had a down poor, just misty annoying sprinkles.
Boy, that's good news.
Yes, when you haven't had enough rain for a while - you really appreciate the relief. Glad you finally got some of that relief!
Wow! That looks like a lot of rain. We only had a little bit of rain, mostly sprinkles, in the Bay Area.
How wonderful for you. I know you needed it badly. We even had a downpour on Friday afternoon which lasted for about a half hour, but didn't drop quite as much as you got. It was lovely though.
Rain is good! Hope it arrived in time to spare some of the vegetation!
Can you believe that we actually got rain in So. CA yesterday and Friday too? Glad that you guys got some much needed rain.
Nice hard rain ~ hooray ! ! ! ~ but it would have been nicer to get it earlier to save some of those fields of crops. We are never satisfied with our weather.
I am expecting your pkg. to show up tomorrow. Will let you know it it does.

Yes, and some of it ended up in my basement! Always good to see rain -- as long as it stays outside!
