I cut 15 more fabrics and worked them into the colorwash and decided it was ready to sew. I only got 4 rows sewn together last night before I quit.
I thought this was its final layout and I started sewing. Then as I went back to pick off another row I saw a couple pieces that I meant to change so I guess I'll have to wait to see what it looks like when it is all sewn.
The porch pots are surviving despite the temperatures close to 100 each day. Most of these pots have a reservoir in the bottom that can be filled so the roots are happy. I did take in the cacti after I took this photo. I'll put them back out on Sunday when it cools off.
The pots that I have in front of my garage and scattered amongst the garden plants have come into the garage for a few days.
The black eyed Susans are getting ready to pop open. If we get the rain they are predicting over the weekend I think I'll have lots of blooms.
I posted about some pretties in our winter garden today - including the zygocactus.
ReplyDeleteIt's been so hot this summer, it's amazing anything can survive outside!
ReplyDeleteI showed my granddaughters your color wash quilts-to-be on your design wall and they both said, "Wow!" (I'm trying to turn them into quilters while they're young... *hehehe* )
Your plants are beautiful. I hope you get some relief from the heat wave soon.
ReplyDeleteI think it's funny that you had to take the cactus in because of the heat. It is not quite so hot here but all the rain has gone around us so we are getting pretty dry. I haven't started getting plants for the porch yet but plan to start next week. We need color BAD.
ReplyDeleteI love the plants. Mine are all dying - the water company just told us no outside watering at all because of the drought - some of the plants will now get dish water and shower water put on them -

Love your plants. My black-eyed susans look just like yours. I think today is the last day of our crazy hot weather. It will be 36C with a humidex of 41C. I think I will move some of my pots into cooler places.
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed anything is surviving in this heat!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to see your colourwash quilt being sewn together -- I can't wait to see it finished!
Hope the color wash desn't evolve too much more--it is stunning. Hope you AND the pants survive the heat.
ReplyDeleteEven though we've had rainy and cloudy weather, it is still so humid. I just can't deem to do much without getting in a sweat !
ReplyDeleteLove how the quilt is going!
Wish I were one of your plants... I definitely need extra TLC in hot weather...
ReplyDeleteNow that it has cooled off I can transplant one of my geranimums into the pot it needs to be in. I am so glad for the rain this morning but I am sure not enough to make the grass green again. I love the quilt you are working on. How big are the squares you are working with?
