When I have scraps from making the Crooked Cobblestone blocks I put them in the appropriate small basket so they are always sorted for me. I went through the little baskets yesterday and pulled out a bunch to be ironed.
The Rose of Sharon bush outside of my kitchen window has lavender blossoms. Next year there will probably be about 15 bushes growing there since it self seeds. I went out in the muggy air and cut volunteer trees again because free brush pick up is on Monday.
The scrap thing is going on here also. The Rose of Sharon's here are in bloom, but the Japanese Beetles are eating them as fast as they bloom. Need to go out and treat them this morning. Mine are the old fashioned White with the Red centers. Stay cool this week. Chris
I made sixteen 6 1/2 inch scrap blocks today but my scraps are never precut, just grouped together by colour, or for prints that don't fit, by value. Some of my blocks were traditional four patch or nine patch, two were square on square, but most were improv, my favourite (at the moment)!
I love sorting scraps. Sometimes I wonder if I enjoy it more than some of the other parts of the process...reminds me of loving sorting my crayons when I was a kid, I guess. Can't get enough color!
I keep trying to get rid of the scraps and the pile continously grows. My rose of sharons are blooming also. Most of mine are doubles and are pink. The bees are having a great time.
Organization does help in the scrap department, but it's a never ending battle, for me anyway. I have several of the Rose of Sharon here and they do love our weather. We call them Althea here.
I love the progress you're making on the color wash quilt. I look forward to seeing in when you've gotten in all sewn together.
My 80+ year old rose of sharon bush died. We've had such intense heat she couldn't take it anymore. Perhaps there are some roots down there that will come back next year.
