It was a 3 Dr. Pepper day..........

I found 20 more fabrics and cut them and I think I have 200 now.  I will double check my count this morning.  I always lay out one kit in color groups and value order so I can see what I still need to fill in for value and color gaps.  It took 3 Dr. Peppers to get it done yesterday.  Back in the day, you know before the middle age sag started (I'm 71), I used to drink 6 cans of pop (soda) a day.  I have never drank coffee or tea and prefer a cold drink with carbonation.  I knew lots of people who drank in excess of 6 cups of coffee with cream and sugar every day so I didn't consider what I was doing an excess.  Add 30 years, and now I have to deprive myself of all of the good stuff because just looking at it puts on the pounds.  I only allow myself 2 cans of Dr. Pepper a day now but yesterday I had to go over the limit.  I'm ready to start in on the batik kits now.  I'll try to keep my drinking under control with that kit.

  4. A couple of years ago I gave up soda and switched to plain water. On a rare occasion I will have a soda, but I had to keep that middle age spread from taking over.

  6. I used to drink a lot of coke, then I switched to diet coke and still drank a lot of it - then a couple years ago I gave it up altogether and rarely have carbonated drinks now and find I don't miss them. I do have 2 or 3 cups of coffee a day though still with cream/sugar.
The fabric sets are wonderful - you sure have a lot of fabric to choose from.

  7. Oh, my, I know about that Dr Pepper. When I worked, I bought one at 0900 for morning break, and then after lunch I started on the second if I had office time. These were big ones. They followed a cup of coffee in the morning.

I love all the color work. I wish I lived closer so I could take one of your classes.

  8. I hear you about depriving yourself from the "good" stuff. My Dr. says that is just one of the "hazards" of getting older, that slower metabolism.... Unfortunately, sometimes we just don't want to adjust!

  9. Love Dr. Pepper, too, but got to have my coffee in the morning. The fabric sets are looking so wonderful....makes me want to grab one and start blending.

  10. The colors look great! I'm with you, have never been a coffee/tea drinker. Several years ago I switched from Pepsi to Diet Dr. Pepper, because it was the only good tasting diet soda! No calories either! Have you tried it?

  11. Your color group kit is beautiful, young lady! It the kit in the picture not a batik set of fabrics.
I so love cold diet Dr. Pepper anytime. But I'm trying to cut back on real and artificial sweeteners and caffeine.

  12. My weakness is chocolate. For some reason I have always hated sodas, especially dark sodas. They taste like poison to me. But chocolate? I could easily eat a pound a day!

  13. Your story reminded me of when I was in the service. I use to drink 12-24 cans of Mountain Dew a day. Now I can't stand it, it is way to sweet, and the caffeine knocks me out cold. I am not much of a soda drinker at all anymore. I love those trays of fabric, they look delicious!

  14. Too funny! I used to drink at least 6 (or more) 16 oz Tabs a day. Remember Tab? I bet I could barely stand the taste now. :))

  19. Fun to read all the comments this morning. You started a confessional 'tell all' about Dr. Pepper and carbonated beverages. (*._,*)

You have my total appreciation for all the work you are doing for the Color Wash kits you are making for us. And it is SOooo ~ hot in Sandwich you deserve as many cans of pop you want.

  20. All those colors... they are beautiful! Now, if looking at cans of regular soda put weight on, could I lose these extra pounds looking at the diet cans? Because DRINKING the diet kind ain't helping!!! :-)

  22. Your fabrics for the kits are just wonderful. I can't miss my morning coffee, but have been cutting back on the diet coke that I love too. I don't have Dr. Pepper that much, but do like it. I'll have to look into purchasing one of your kits because I know I'd like making a color wash quilt!
