I took the 130 Crooked Cobblestone blocks with me to NC but all I did with them was sort them by size. I played with them a little yesterday but I can see I need a little more variety in color. I decided to just read for the rest of the day instead of making more blocks.
I am planning on painting my living/dining room this month. My cousin is coming to pick up a china cabinet that has been in the family a long time. He wants it for sentimental reasons and I want it gone so it's a good fit. He won't get here for another week and a half so I have plenty of time to prepare the room for painting. The room is L shaped and is 30' on the 2 longest walls, 15' on the other walls. I think I have myself convinced I can do it by myself.

That is a big space to paint! I used to do some painting but I can't anymore. I'd like to try to do our kitchen cabinets. They have to be sanded though.

I am with Holly, that is a large space. I am not sure that I could do it myself. Although, if I had nothing else that I would rather be doing, then I would probably tackle the job. Do you have your colors picked?

I'm glad you made it back safe and sound and are already making plans for your next undertaking. I also am curious about what color you are going to paint your room in.
Your cobblestones are so fun and inspiring. I was just thinking yesterday that I wanted to play in my stash of them this week.
If it takes a week to do then go for it. I like to move things on one wall and paint it as much as necessary and clean behind all the furniture and move it back. Then move onto the next wall. You will be sore believe me. The other thing you could do is have a painting party and it goes faster. Chris
Is it my imagination, or do these cobblestone blocks include fabrics with larger patterns and stronger contrast than previous cobblestone quilts?
I'm looking forward to seeing interim arrangements on your design wall with these.

Sounds like you had a wonderful trip. I enjoyed seeing the photos of your exhibit - so beautiful! Take your time painting - it can be so tiring for the arms and back.
Wanda--paint one wall a day (after you get it all taped and prepped.) It goes by nicely and you don't feel overwhelmed. Worked for me (twice :-)

oh oh oh -- why don't you get an estimate for having the room painted. Life (and muscles) are so much happier and it's so fast....I used to consider it an indulgence and then I decided I was worth it!
Your show looks like it was a great success. Congratulations. You deserve time to just relax and refocus and create!

I know I am odd, but I enjoy painting - I love how it looks so good when you're done! I have used the paint- and primer-in-one products, Behr makes one, and I love it. You get great coverage in one coat. Good luck!
I love to paint too so I say go for it! It's such a huge feeling of accomplishment when it's done and it's playing with color, right? :)
Of course you can do it yourself, just do it is small enough patches that you don't get over tired. The biggest mistake people who do it themselves make is thinking they are as capable as a professional. My husband has taught me how to rinse and dry rollers and brushes then store them in a ziploc bag for the next day. That way I can paint a room without killing myself and still not waste money on brushes and rollers.
Well...you have my utmost admiration for tackling such a big painting project. The worst of it, to my recollection, is the prep work. What color are you thinking of using? (Red? Why not???)
I listen to recorded books while painting. It makes the job much easier.

I see your weather is still nice and warm... The paint should dry fast.
If only we could have a long run with some warm days... we get a good hot one every once in a while then it goes back to the dreary, dreary overcast days and maybe hits in the 60's.

Given your love for, and expertise with color, I am curious what you're going to paint your room. For those of us who love color (and who doesn't?) it's a real temptation to do something exciting when painting. But when you get tired of it (which may come very quickly), then you have to do it all over again.
Thanks for sending all the photos and the video of your show in NC. For those of us who were unable to get there, it gave us a taste of what it was like. Sounds like it was extremely successful, which does not come as a surprise to those of us who are fans of yours. Congrats!
Painting is not an easy job. The prep work is the most tiring part I think. I agree that maybe you could do one wall at a time. Is someone going to help you move the furniture?
I can't imagine painting a room that large! I too am curious about what colour you'll choose.

I just wanted to tell you I enjoyed your quilt show on line. You are such a good quilter!
Painting... I've done rooms that size myself. Do the prep work 1 day and paint the walls the next. I start with the biggest wall first, more of an accomplishment when looking back on what you have left to do. I also listen to books on CD or fast paced music.

Great cobblestones! I took a day of rest today too. Painting the living/dining room is going to be a big job! Prepping the room is the most work I think. I doubt if I could take on such a huge task any more. I figure that is what painters are for. Take it easy Wanda.
I frequently convince myself I can do something. Usually when I'm right in the middle of doing it. The cobblestones are looking good.
You can do the painting yourself, just plot along. Sure in your mind you are telling yourself you can do it and in one day.... mistake.
Plot along... I am doing more things by just plotting along.
