Hot days......

The first balloon flower has bloomed.  They are growing in between a bunch of different plants.  I thought I was going to clean up this garden this year but as hot as it has been this early in the summer, it might not have worked out even if I had had the time to do it in May.
I didn't sew yesterday.  I rearranged my main floor studio so I will be farther away from the hot TV and closer to the window to enjoy my back yard view.  Then I started cleaning out the china cabinet that my cousin is going to pick up on Wednesday.  I have my free quart of Clark and Kensington paint (and primer together) to paint one wall and see if I like the color I chose.  I think it is enough to paint the fireplace wall.  I will wait until Saturday when it is supposed to cool off a little and I might be able to have the windows open.  It is supposed to get up to 97 today.

  1. Heat index yesterday was 100*F and suppose to be worse today. My ballon flowers are close to opening. Good luck with the apinting. Chris

  2. That is hot weather, by anyone's standards. We might actually be a tad cooler than you today and that's rare.

  3. Not just the heat, but the WIND. I worry about my tree outside my window. It's a Honey Locust and just bends and bends and bends; it's looking very wind damaged.

I've had my a/c put in my bedroom at least 3 weeks earlier than usual. I paid attention in March when it was so warm.

  6. It is warm here too, but we've had cool spells for gardening. Yours looks lush anyway.
Cant wait to see how your painting goes.

  7. What a pretty flower. It doesn't seem to mind the heat. Do you want me to send you some of this foggy 60-70* weather?

  8. When I hear about heat like that, I always think about our foremothers who had no A/C and cooked on wood stoves. Those poor women. No wonder they're never smiling in those old photographs.

  9. I have balloon flowers in my garden, too, and they are one of my favorites. Every stage fascinates me. Mine began blooming a few weeks ago but I'm east of you so maybe the climate is significantly different. I always love seeing the pictures of your gardens...

  11. You always take such pretty photo's... love the dainty pinks in the background. Just can't believe your hot days ! Still cool days here. The 'Weather Kids' tell us that our cool days have been because of the 'El nina' out in the Pacific. I should not complain as the cool temps hopefully will keep our forest free from fires.

  13. Love the ballon flower. mary ann hulon said her yard was turning brown. Mine is turning into a pond. Kind of cool here 69 to low 70's during the day. Our guild's quilt show is this weekend so hoping for no rain. martha

  14. I think I need to come visit for a while. Right now the temperature is 6°C (43°F) and is expected to climb to 17°C (63°F). At 7:30 this morning we had our lowest temperature of 3.2°C (35.8°F)! It's winter and my zygocactus has opened its first bloom.

  16. That balloon flower has twirled her skirts mighty prettily in front of the other flower chorus. And yes, I do just enough to keep things going outside during the heat of summer. I do better late in the evening before it gets too dark.
