Getting my energy back.......

Even though it looked like I have been busy since I got home June 9th, I really have been dragging.  Too many long hours standing on a cement floor, plus the stress of flying.  I am just beginning to feel like my old self again.  I started another colorwash with regular quilting cottons (no batiks).  I think I may be building this one sideways on my design walls as I usually like the green at the bottom of my pieces.  I am low on squares of this type of fabric so I am cutting as I work on it.
Here is a link to the Alabama visitor that went to my show in NC.  She and her husband are really having a fun trip.

I just love this Coleus that is in my pots in front of the garage.  I saved cuttings of several varieties over the winter, just letting them root in water and I planted them in a pot in May.  I'll have to remember to get a cutting from this one before frost in the fall.

  1. You are really good at picking the fabrics to use for the color wash. I am sure experience plays a big hand in that, but I am still amazed.

  2. I'm glad things are settling down and you're back to normal. Getting ready for the show and being "on show" during it must have been draining.

  4. it normally takes me several days to a week or so to "recover" from a trip - depends on how much was involved I guess - I don't snap back quickly like I use to do.
I am in touch with Gari also - glad she enjoyed the show.

  5. So glad you're starting to feel better. Traveling and teaching is even more exhausting than getting ready for it. Love your new project. Please let me know a few months ahead of time when your next class in Charlotte will be. I'd love to come, but I need a bit more notice in order to have a day off.

  7. It seems lately that when I go out and do something it takes me days to recouperate. Glad to hear that you are starting to perk up again. I love the Coleus. It is a beautiful color. Yay!!! I got some rain tonight but not enough, just a teaser.

  9. I love to see you playing with the colorwashes. I know you say it's easy for you. Maybe one of these days I'll work up the courage to cut that many blocks and try one.

I have coleus in pots in the front that are on their third year. Yes, it surprises me, too. This past winter was so mild I don't think I ever even covered them. The year before I put them in the garage. Non-tempermental plants are a joy!
