This is one student's fabric pieces divided into light, light medium, dark medium, and dark. I tried to provide a good assortment of colors and values in the pack of squares they worked with. Here is where I posted about this exercise 2 years ago. I had 13 very enthusiastic students who all did a great job with the exercises I ran them through. I had them fill out an evaluation form at the end of class and had some good suggestions for improvement in this class.

A successful class......

I do have trouble with the sorting values in fabric. I could probably use that class!
If I am reading this right, being in your class means using your fabric. Sign me up!!

I think this is something everyone has trouble with. I am sure they learned a lot in your class.
I cant sort colors well. But my wife does a fantastic job and helps me out on that. Is that cheating? Like mom doing your home work when your a kid.

Thank you for the old post, it makes it so clear. Have you thought about writing a book about color? Online class? Color exercises like this would be great!

I am not surprised that your students were enthusiastic. I have a feeling you're an excellent teacher, AND, you bring beautiful fabric! What could be better than that?!

I should have refreshed my memory about your past post prior to sewing my blocks. Oh well. I use the "wing it" method of fabric matching (and that doesn't always work so hot).
