Redbuds in the morning. I spent an hour outside picking up more fallen branches. So many of them are broken into small pieces so it has been a big job.
Redbuds in the afternoon. A lot of sunshine and some rain and they are starting to bloom. The wind was blowing so the photo is a little blurry.
Remember the tiny tips of the peonies I showed a few days ago? This plant is a foot tall. There are others not quite as far along. We had a rainstorm yesterday afternoon and more rain at night so I expect them all to be shooting up today.
Inside the house, one red blossom ready to open, 6 more buds on the red plant and 3 getting bigger every day on the white one.
After I got home from computer club last night I finished 2 mug rugs. I had quilted them before I left and put the binding on after the meeting. The only other thing I did yesterday was to vacuum the basement and start clearing my clutter off the tables (a couple hours) to prepare for Monday (art quilters). Luckily it is going to cool off on Sunday for my baking day. The cool off is still 10+ degrees above the average for this time of the year so no complaints here.
I just love your redbud trees! We don't seem to have them around here. But a quilty friend of mine told me that her mother gave her a small tree for her birthday and it is doing really well. She offered me a small seedling and I am going to take it. I love your little mug rugs! Should make one too. And the cactus. Wow! Beautiful! Mine are still flowering too. It's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteFunny, I can't believe all the spring blooms here too. Very early for us. Normally we don't see this until April. But like you, I am not complaining!
ReplyDeleteAlways a pleasure to see what you've posted. What could be better than nature and fiber? Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteGreat mug rugs!
ReplyDeletelove those mug rugs - the colors are great. Everything here to the south of you is blooming way earlier than normal also. The trees are almost all fully leaved out and the clematis are blooming.

We have leaves on many trees today in Winston Salem. Most unusual. Early this year. Bulb blooms are finishing up. The temps are warm. Wonder if a long hot summer in on the way.
ReplyDeleteLove your beautiful mug rugs! Hard to believe you are still getting blooms on your Christmas cactus plants.
Thank you for the redbuds! I work from home and have been on a big project. I totally missed the redbuds here in FL. We are into late azaleas already. As a former northern girl, the redbuds are all I have from "home" around here. Thank you for giving them back to me! Your site is my happy moment every morning!
ReplyDeleteSpring looks and feels so GOOD. Your photo's just warm my heart. Our spring is behind but to see what we can look forward too is exciting.
ReplyDeleteAre you taking some 'mug rug's' to your show in June ? I think they would be great sellers, so many would love to have one of your creations big or small. Love those two you showed today.

Your mug rugs are so pretty! And of course it's too hot here for peonies, so I'll just enjoy yours. I am so impressed with your Christmas cacti blooming again.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the spring pictures... we have had a great, mild winter, but it snowed 6" yesterday and still more is falling today. Totally wintery even at thawing temps. A rug mug and a cuppa seem a good idea!
ReplyDeleteIt's so wonderful to see the plants starting so early -- this amazing weather has been such a treat! We're cooling down a bit too, but we'll still be way above average for this time of year.
ReplyDeleteI love those mug rugs!
Your Christmas cactus blossoms are so pretty. I had one more blossom on my cactus plant, so that makes two blossoms this year! Whoopee!
ReplyDeleteLove your mug rugs.
Beautiful mug rugs and our redbuds are blooming too! They are so pretty along the river!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful trees...
ReplyDeleteLove the Mug Rugs.
WOW!! can't beleive you still have flowers on the cactis. My will be in bloom soon for our Winter...
It's not quite Spring here in wet and cold WA. Would love of the the spring feeling. I love the mug rugs. About what size do you make yours? I definitely like the other suggestion about having some to sell at your showing:) A great way to buy a little of art from you!

I have to remember to get pics of my cactus. Red has 1 bloom and a few buds on the other.
ReplyDeleteDid you hand sew your binding on the mug rugs?
You mug mats look like they would make a beautiful set of placemats. I've got some batiks just waiting to fit into something and I think that might just be the project. Thanks for the inspiration!
