Snow day.......

This was taken about 2 p.m. yesterday when there was about 4" on the ground.  The snow started around 10 a.m. and stopped around 8:30 at night.  I measured 7" in my yard but I shoveled over 4" twice off the sidewalk.
The cacti bloom is fully opened now.  I just love this color.  There is one more bud that I thought was going to dry up but it looks a little larger today.  Maybe I'll get one more bloom.....
I had 2 guys at my house early yesterday morning putting the expanding foam in 2 cracks in my basement walls.  I have been meaning to fix them for a long time and decided this was a good time.  One crack was there when we moved in 39 years ago and had been repaired at least once but the rain still leaked in if we had a downpour all day or 2 days of heavy rain.  Now I have a 10 year guarantee of no leaks. After they left I ran a bunch of errands before the snow got too heavy.  I chose some backings for a few quilts tops and then made these 2 little mug rugs.  I couldn't decide if I should quilt the same way as the strip piecing or across it so I did one of each.

  2. When you own a home always something needs working on. We got about 6.5 inches total here. I like the cross quilting on the one on the right. Chris

  4. I discovered that mug rugs come in handy.
we got about the same amount of light fluffy snow but it started around supper and went into the night.
The crack fills will make you a lot more secure.

  5. I have never thought to use expanding foam in concrete (basement walls are concrete right?) I have used it for other things and it works great.
Love the quilts and the flower blossoms.

  7. I like your mug rugs! I think the cross quilting gives the one on the right a bit more texture. We got a bit snow but the real news is the ice on the roads. I didn't gas up like I should have yesterday, but I'm staying in today.

Today's random secret word is "comabad" ... oh well

  8. We are down to 3 " of snow here in the valley.... We literally had a foot in the yard... then the rain and warm temps made a out of that beautiful snow fall.

Your cacti blossom is gorgeous... and those mug rugs just warm my heart.

  10. The snow is beautiful but now am anxious for it to disappear before it starts to look dirty. I need to go outside tomorrow and take a few pictures. Maybe I will tackle a sewing job tomorrow.

  12. We used that expanding foam on a foundation crack as well. We also removed the steps that caused the crack. It's been 4 years and it's dry as a bone.
