I sewed the borders onto the flannel quilt and pieced the back and that is as far as I thought I was going to go on this flannel quilt yesterday. Then I remembered the last piece on my old roll of batting was just the right size for this so I decided to load it on the longarm.
While I was looking at it I decided it was only going to be 5 passes over the quilt so why not go ahead and quilt it.
I had a long enough piece of the red print for the back but just a little short on the one I had used for side borders so I pieced on some of the other border fabric.
On January 1st I took all of the triangles I cut over a month ago and designed this zigzag top. The triangles are 6" finished so this will be about 60" x 72". It is the project I'll work on between other things but I only have 2 weeks to get it sewn and off the wall before my friends will need the wall space.
Your energy and accomplishments amaze me. I am ashamed of myself I didn't sew a stitch yesterday. The flannel quilt is cozy looking. Glad you got it done that far. Chris
ReplyDeleteLove the flannel quilt! But, oh my, I am in love with the zig zag top!
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky to have the long arm to quilt yourself. I send mine out for quilting if they're too large to handle on my basic machine. You sure do work fast though!
ReplyDeleteI like the pink/green colors coming through in the zigzag quilt. I love that pattern, have used it a couple of times.
It looks wonderful and I am sure it is going to be so cozy and warm.
ReplyDeleteLucky you to have a long arm and the space for it.
ReplyDeleteLike the flannel and thrifty pieced sections in the border. The triangles are fantastic! I know you will get it done on time.
Wanda: I am curious about long arm machines and know no one else to ask...does it take a long time to load a quilt/batting/back? And for example, how long did it take you to actually do the quilting on the flannel quilt? Thanks in advance.
ReplyDeleteLOVE just love your flannel quilt. Design and fabrics ~ are so 'north woodsy'. We all gravitate
ReplyDeleteZig - Zag is full of energy... good one to begin the New Year with pizazz !

p.s. I was distracted and did not get to finish "we all gravitate toward our environment."
ReplyDeleteYay for the finish! The flannel quilt looks made for snuggling and perfectly quilted. I tend to quilt too closely, and looser is definitely more snuggly. I REALLY like the zig zag, lots of gorgeous fabrics in a colorful design.
ReplyDeleteYou just keep cranking them out! I can only think your work space is kept "neat" so that you can move from step to step... great work.
ReplyDeleteWow -- you are off to a great start of the new year!! I love that flannel quilt -- it looks so cozy and warm. Can't wait to see the zig-zag quilt come together -- a lovely touch of colour during the grey days of winter!
ReplyDeleteYour flannel quilt looks great! I love what you did for the backing. Your zig zag quilt is going to look wonderful - so colourful in these long dark days of winter.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty zig-zag quilt! I love the fabrics, as usual. :-)
