Easy jobs..........
We were quite busy at the quilt shop yesterday but there is still a lot of fabric left. I did some ditch quilting around the 'H's before I went to work and some more when I got home. I needed something easy to do without a lot of thinking after a busy day.
I gave some batting pieces to a friend yesterday for the preemie quilts that she makes and I cut the pieces too small for those quilts into dusting cloths. After quilting so many quilts in the last 2 weeks I had a lot of strips of batting from trimming the edges. And I dusted the kitchen and bathroom floors!
While I listened to the 10 o'clock news and Nightline I started the hand sewing of the binding on the ABC quilt.

As my grampa used to say "well I'll be". I never thought of using my batting scraps for the floor duster. Does it make a difference if it's cotton or polyester? Mine are all cotton.
I am with Holly, the use of scraps for the floor duster is a GREAT idea.

Oh gosh...what a great idea for batting scraps!! Thank you! And thanks for showing your quilting in the ditch. I think I have the technique all wrong after seeing your stitches.
I never thought of using batting scraps to dust either: dusting with a 'quilting connection...perhaps now I will enjoy dusting...doubt it but the floors and furniture are hopeful! :)

Yet another reason I always read your blog every day. You come up with the greatest ideas! I have a LOT of batting scraps that will soon turn into dusters. And I just like to look at the fabrics you use - always so pretty. Keep up the good work! LOL
I had seen the tip on scrap batting to be used with those dusting mops, I have tried it but I had forgotten as it had been awhile. I will get some cut up when we get home on Monday. Sounds like you had a very busy day!

Hope you had a nice meal with your dad on Thanksgiving! November looks like it's a very productive one for you.
Are you getting some of that rain? It's just starting to darken up here but no rain yet (must be a slow moving front).
And another question: What type of needle to you like for binding? The one in your photo looks nice and strong.

Binding a quilt is one task I love..it just finishes the quilt!

Great idea for batting scraps! Yes. Another reason I don't miss any of your blog entries.
I try to use up all my batting scraps by sewing them together for small quilts, small items, etc.

My goodness! You've been busy. I've used my batting scraps for dust cloths before but never thought to use them with the "Swiffer". Great idea! Thanks!
I've been known to use excess batting to wrap fragile items for storage and/or shipping ... or even (when there is way too much batting on the shelf) instead of crumpled newspaper or tissue to fill a box. I like the idea of dusting floor pieces - must get a swiffer for my quilt studio . . . .
Wow! You are really on a roll to finish those quilts. I love the ABC quilt. Your crosses quilt is really super. I love the colors moving diagonally. Quite striking.

What a clver idea to use scraps as dusters! I thought I was pretty innovative in using some scraps to pack a plate I sold on ebay!
Man, you are so smart! Love that idea for using the batting bits.
I sew the batting together to make batting for QAYG blocks!
