Some play time.......

Here are 2 fabrics that I was thinking about using in the equilateral triangle quilt.  I think I'll cut one batch of each and see how they look.

In between many other things I did yesterday I sewed the borders on 8 more diamonds.

Here are all of the diamonds so far.  I am going to add mostly reds and purples after I sew the last 6 that are hanging at the bottom of the design wall.

This Phillip Jacobs fabric is one of the purples that I will add to the diamond quilt.  This is 1 yard of fabric so you can see the flowers are large.

I mowed my back yard last night.  It hadn't been mowed since my dad went to the hospital on Aug. 11.  Luckily it is shade grass which isn't as thick as regular grass.  I wore my tennis shoes this time.  Last time I mowed I wore sandals and my hip hurt for 5 days afterwards.

Dad seems to be adjusting to his new home.  Assisted living was what he has needed for awhile and we were pushed into finally making the decision with the hospital and then nursing home stay.  I hope he will be able to go to the family reunion at the beginning of October.

The diamonds are looking really good, Wanda! I have a diamond ruler that I once won in a giveaway. So, now I'm itching to make one. But, it'll have to wait a few months. No time now.

I am loving the diamonds. Your color combinations are great.
My mother has been in assisted living for 8 years. She loves it there. Its only 3 miles from my house and a nice place to live.
Looke like a victorian hotel.
Lots of porches to sit on. She will be 92 this year.
The only thing she complains about is the meals.

The grays will work well. The floral will be busy, but fit well also. Chris

I always enjoy your quilts-they are so bright and...well 'exhuberant! your fabrics are so different than what I mostly use. I love watching the diamond one progress.
glad your dad is adjusting, these are the most difficult decisions; you were lucky to have the imput of hospital and nursing staff.

Oh, those diamonds! They just sing. And Phillip Jacobs is my very favorite designer of fabric, or at least he designed my very favorite. Still hoarding some of that one. LOL

So glad your Dad is setting in well. Getting old is not for sissies.

I really enjoy watching the combinations of fabrics you're putting together. I see it's not limited to only light + dark = contrast. Some of the paired fabrics are kind of close in value, but the different colors provide enough contrast. You're a teacher every day, Wanda.

Hey Wanda! I got 16 more diamonds cut last night. I love them!! You are helping me cut into my Martha Negley's, I am a fabric hoarder and have issues cutting them. I thank you for sharing your blog with us!! Cutting a few more today :o) Amie in Tn.

Love, Love, Love the diamond quilt! I am doing a Kaffe one also. Mine is in the hot pinks and red color scheme. I bordered it in bright white. I didn't have a pattern and it looks as if bordering each block as opposed to sashing them would have been easier, less confusing and less stretch....
Like you, mine was to be something to fill time at my machine, when I had nothing else.... Not working out so well. I am addicted!
