While I was mowing the grass yesterday I noticed the lilies are blooming. They face the street so I can't see them from the house.
The butterfly weed is blooming. It is about 4' tall. I have seen a couple Monarch butterflies going between this and the milk weed. There is a bee on the side of the flower here.
The hydrangea is planted right in front of the gas meter. Actually it was here first and they put the meter on the outside of my house 2 years ago and amazingly didn't kill the bush.
your flowers look fresh and wonderful! I have one of those white hydrangeas too, and whenever it pours the whole thing collapses under the weight of wet flowerheads! This seems to be a banner year for milkweed - I have one that I left in for the monarchs and it's already six feet tall!
ReplyDeleteYour plants look lovely. That white tapered flower looks like Gooseneck loosestrife (Lysimachia clethroides) to me. I bought some many years ago from our local horticultural society and have been digging it out ever since, but it keeps coming back.
ReplyDeleteA friend gave me some gooseneck loosestrife a few years ago with the warning that they would take over. They are great in cut bouquets. I'm more of a collector than a gardener, so it doesn't bother me.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely walk about the garden this morning!!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely flowers to walk among... summer is beautiful in your yard!
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with those Cape Daisies :D
ReplyDeleteLove the flowers. That Cape Daisy is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove your flower pictures. Your yard must be gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteYour garden is looking great! Amazing color on the Cape Daisy (goes with the fabric in yesterday's post, in case anyone didn't thing that was a real flower color!).
Love that shot of a bee on the butterfly plant.

Your garden is looking good. I love the color of the daisy. Our rains have sure helped our flowers but where is it now that the flowers need watering? Tomorrow I will have to water the Zinnias. Enjoy the 4th!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for a tour of your garden. Since I Live in Southern California, we haven't got the variety of flowers that you all have. I am so envious.
ReplyDeleteYep -- gooseneck loosestrife> One of those plants that seems like a good idea at first...
