Audition and playtime......

I tried lots of combinations of 3 strips for the border on this top and so far this is my favorite.
I like to have some kind of project that I can just pick up at times I can't figure out what else I want to do.  I will just keep making star blocks until I get tired of them and there should be enough for a quilt, or a row in a quilt.  I have the triangle squares laid out in groups of 8 that I need for each block.

  4. I love the border on the quilt. It seems to make those colors pop on the quilt. I love star blocks. It is a great idea to make the blocks with scraps ahead of time and put them aside until you find the perfect place to use them. Hope you are staying cool.

  5. Your borders really bring out the block colors.
I've always loved the star blocks. Is your background white? It's hard to tell on my monitor. For a while now I've wanted to do the wonky star block. It's a good way to do it as an aside when you need to pick up something easy. I like that.

  6. That is a great combo for the border! I do agree with you that having something to just pick up and work on is always handy and fills that need for the creative spirit.

  7. I love the fabrics you picked out for the borders. They really make the quilt 'pop' and they finish it off beautifully. Those star blocks are going to be lovely. I like to have something to pick up and work on too. It keeps my creative juices flowing.

  8. Those borders DO set it off nicely. And yes, my mind is always jumping ahead to the next thing. I have to MAKE myself finish one before I start another. Sometimes. LOL

  9. I like your triple border. The outer red just frames it all so nicely. I have one (or maybe several) of those projects that are easy and don't require much concentration. Some days, it's just what I need to work on more string blocks.

  11. I like the border strips, they bring a finish to the quilt.

That is a good idea to have another project to work on in between. I sometimes string piece when I want to sew and don't want to think.

  12. You've just inspired me (again!) - I have a whole box of half-square triangles. I think I may experiment with a Star quilt!

  13. Lovely border colors/prints! This top is so stunning. Loving those stars-in-waiting, too. Great choice for a "mindless sewing" project.

  15. I do like your border colors. I tend to like a darker stopping border. And, my pick up because I need to sew currently is strip blocks. They sit around for a while but then I work on them for a while, usually between projects.
