The weather was pretty nice up until 1 p.m. It was cloudy and there was a nice breeze, but once the sun came out it was hot and muggy again. I sold LOTS of stuff at the garage sale. The way I look at it is I can pay someone to haul it all away or price it reasonably and have all of the customers hauling it away for me.
I mowed the front lawn later in the afternoon after it cooled off a little. A friend showed me how Hunter Star can be made from 4" finished squares and 2" finished triangle squares. I had to lay it out to get my fiber for the day.
Please, please, please stop showing me colourful stars!! LOL
ReplyDeleteI love stars and the Hunter Star is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteOhhh I just love the Hunter's Star made this way. Very nice with little pieces of K. Fassett and a crisp white.
ReplyDeleteCheck the bottom left corner....there is a triangle unit that needs to be rotated.
ReplyDeleteLove this break down for the Hunter's Star. It will be absolutely fabulous.
I'm glad you were successful again at the sale.
ReplyDeleteGreat tip, I can see how easy this would be. I think a block is turned in the bottom left corner.
ahh! that trick of making Hunter Star from triangles made my day! who needs trapezoids?
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see a Kaffe Fassett block it makes me want to break into my stash, the star is just lovely. What size with it be when the parts are sewn together? In in a swap and haven't chosen a block design yet... hint hint....
ReplyDeleteThank you thank you for picking me as the winner - I feel so special. my address has been emailed to you.
fabulous star!!!
ReplyDeleteYou had me in all seriousness until the daily fiber - that made me laugh out loud! The Hunter Star layout is stunning. Very creative. Glad you had a good "haul-away". And congratulations to a very fortunate winner!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it wonderful that people will haul your stuff away! When we cleared out my Dad's place we put a few things that we didn't want by the road with a sign that said, 'free to good home'. Before we knew it people were coming right inside and carting everything away. We didn't have to do a thing. I love your Hunter Star layout! And good for you for getting your fiber!
ReplyDeleteI keep staring at that star trying to memorize the lay out. What a great idea, thanks.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you had another successful day of garage saling. Please send the customers here in about 3 weeks for ours. I also agree with you about pricing it cheap so someone walks away with it. I like the Hunter's star. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh, I cannot wait to see your Hunter's Star quilt finished. The beginning is great. I like the way you placed the Kaffe Fassett fabric. Good way to get all your things "hauled away"! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHunter Star~ Just gorgeous ! ! ! Glad you sold lots of stuff at the garage sale. You had a very productive day.

My first quilt (started in 1984) was brown calico bear paws on a background of unbleached muslin. Boy, was I tired of brown calico and unbleached muslin when I finally finished it, 11 years later! I swore I'd never use unbleached muslin in a quilt again, and I haven't. I haven't even done a quilt with a light background in all these intervening years.
ReplyDeleteThis quilt and the earlier one with the stars are so refreshing that I might be ready to reconsider. Still no unbleached muslin, to be sure. But white.... Hmm.
You inspire me in so many different ways!
Oh what a nice easy way to do a Hunter's Star, thank you for sharing. You are a very kind quilter in that you share so much of what you do, I really appreciate it!!
ReplyDeleteGosh, how I love the colours and design of that star block!! I want to have a go now, but I have Empire/Regency costumes to make for the Jane Austen Festival, Bath, in just over six weeks time. Maybe afterwards...
