Target log cabin; winter is finally all sewn together.
Target log cabin; summer might be done but I have one more audition for it.
I think I want to put a 3 strip border around it. I just grabbed 3 strips that were on my cutting table to try the idea. I think this one needs a border to finish it because the sashing and blocks look like they are floating on the background (corner squares). In the winter version the corner squares blend in so it looks finished.
I like the look of the border. They both are very colorful and neatly executed. Great job. Chris
ReplyDeleteBoth quilts are beautiful, but the summer one is my favorite. I think it deserves to be larger, lol.
ReplyDeletethose two are so wild and cool looking that they about make me dizzy looking at them!!

They look great and I do see the "floating" that you write about. Interesting!
ReplyDeleteI love your creation of seasonal quilts, just a great way to solve the setting question. Also think the added strips for a border on summer works well. Thanks for all this inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI really like the borders on the summer quilt. It does look like it is floating without the borders. This is interesting. Can't wait to see it with borders all around.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous... both are just downright gorgeous! I agree about the three-strip border for the summer quilt.. the strips pull the quilt together somehow...
ReplyDeleteI agree with the other comments - gorgeous! These are both so interesting to gaze upon with all those incredible prints.
ReplyDeleteYep, I think it needs a border (and the three piece border is in keeping with the whole quilt theme). Plus, as some else said, it deserves to be a bigger quilt!
ReplyDeleteSimply mahhhvelous. I'd love to try this layout in solids. Ummmm, ideas!
ReplyDeleteBoth of them are very cool! I like the idea of the added border for the second one.
ReplyDeleteI just love this quilt! So pretty
ReplyDeleteI think I would like them both with borders. How are you going to quilt them?
ReplyDeleteFAbulous. Yes, this second one does need a stop border. I like the idea of strips, plus the binding, it will be a nice finish to this piece.
ReplyDeleteYou remind me of the old Disney cartoon The Socerer's Apprentice. I can see you (instead of Mickey Mouse) splashing color all over the place! Exuberant? YES!
ReplyDeleteI really like both of these, and the borders do improve the summer one.
Good decision on that border. These are wonderful eye-candy!med
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, both of them!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is "winter". I just think it's more vibrant.
ReplyDeleteOr you could bind it with a light colour so the floating concept is accentuated?
ReplyDeleteJust back from the holidays and I LOVE the idea of two quilts, summer and winter, brilliant!! They look fabulous too!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how two quilts "the same" can look so different? Colour selection is an amazing thing, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteWOW, I have 'fallin hard' over these 2 quilts!! FABULOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteI love both of the quilts. I can't decide which one I like the best.
ReplyDeleteThese are both lovely, Wanda! I wasn't keen on the one in the book, but you really saw the potential there!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. It's also amazing at how much the mood of each quilt changes just by changing those squares!
