I have my space heaters in their original boxes....odds and ends........
Luckily I have a stairway to my attic and 3 windows to let in light.......and wow is it hot up there, even on a pleasant day.
What I carried out before these photos: boxes for the components of my 'new' computer purchased in 2003. Ha! New! Boxes from other things I no longer have, about 20 boxes in all.
These 2 huge boxes contained scraps of corduroy. I love corduroy, always have. I was going to make a corduroy quilt some day. I carried all of the larger pieces downstairs to serge the raw edges and I will wash them. The smaller pieces got emptied into the other box and the empty box on the left is down in the garage now.
Now some real treasures, 2 tablecloths and a twin size bedspread crocheted by a great aunt.

I don't have useable attic space but I have a workshop with a loft in it and that is where all of that stuff goes - and it is packed! I don't envy you cleaning it out because I know I need to do the same to mine some day too.

The crocheted pieces are lovely and you are to be commended for working to keep your storage areas cleaned out.
Your crocheted heirlooms are just beautiful! Do you ever get to use them?
I love the crocheted pieces. I have table cloths from my Mom and I love using them for a family dinner. We all accumulate the extra boxes that we might need one day....and yet we never do use them. Hard work...take a rest.
Good on you for tackling the attic on a summer's day! Is that a turkey roaster I see?
Lovely family crocheted pieces... what treasures!
My grandmother crocheted a tablecloth each for my sister and I when we got engaged and a bedspread each for a wedding present. I still have both. The bedspread isn't used; it's a double so it's too small for our queen bed and the tablecloth gets used only at Christmas.
Glad to hear someone else saves boxes. My family calls me the box lady. They know there will always be one at my house if they need one!
Gosh....I wish I had an attic (or a basement). I remember them so well and can almost "feel" being there as I read this. In CA all we have are garages.
Your crochet items are GORGEOUS!!!!
I loved seeing your fake fur fabric. I recently came across a bag with some leftover black "poodle cloth," tightly curled, fake furry fabric that I used for a collar and down-the-front trim on a gray wool tailored coat. I actually found the coat too, and no matter how I tugged, I just couldn't button it shut as I used to. My skinny days and days when I made my wardrobe are just memories now.
The tablecloths and bedspread are lovely.
I too have yards and yards of corduroy, left from the days when I could wear slacks without lycra in the fabric. I'd like to make to make it into a quilt too but fear that it would be too heavy. I made a corduroy bedspread years ago that I never used because it was too cumbersome.
I think it is such a treat to have an attic.
Love those crocheted items.
Hi Wanda, I love the crochet! Did you find any wool?

Those crochet pieces are such treasures!! They really are beautiful!
My daughter just informed me that she wants to have a garage sale at my house. Now I feel as if I have to re-go through all my stuff again. LOL I love the crocheted pieces. I use tablecloths that my mother crocheted as throws over my chairs. At least I am using them that way. I too used to make all my clothes and did until about 4 years ago. I often think about it again but then I get shock written on my face when I price the patterns now. You have been busy with the quilt also. Before you know it you will have it ready to quilt. Enjoy your evening
You really do have treasures in your attic, very nice treasures too! Love your quilt. :)
What beautiful crocheted pieces your aunt did - the pieces are just stunning. The fake fur would make a great teddy bear or other stuffed toy.
Your new blocks are really lovely.
Nice to have that useable crawl space.
Thanks for sharing. Regards,
Anna
Some of the first quilts I ever made were from corduroy. I was 18 or 19, knew nothing about quilting but had a ton of neat colors of corduroy. I made quilts for family members who still have them. I used no batting and flannel on the back and tied them. Amazingly they still are around after 40 years!
Looks like you have a lot of goodies in your attic. I recently cleaned out my basement and through out boxes from purchases too. Always think I need to keep...but I guess not forever!
What a nice trip I just took into your attic. This sort of took me back to my Mom's attic. (Sounds a little crazy, huh?) Your crocheted pieces must be quite special. I've enjoyed my stroll through your blog, and your quilts are lovely. Drop by and see what I do with fabric scraps.
