This is the king size puffy polyester quilt that I made for my parents in 1974. Yes, it did sell! But I only marked it a dollar and it was worth it to have it out of my house. With the puffy polyester we could leave 10" unquilted and we did!
I did great at the garage sale. My sign said 8-3 from the sale last year so I didn't change it to the 5 p.m. that my neighbors were doing. At 2:30 a young man from the Philippines came to my sale. He works up by Chicago but owns a resale shop in the Philippines. He snatched up almost all of the clothes and purses and ended my day nicely. I hardly had anything left so after I got home from the computer club meeting last night I found a few more items to put out so I can be open at least part of the day today. There is a big sale route from Galesburg to Aurora called More on 34 (the name of the highway that goes through town) that starts tomorrow and my neighbor has her name on the list and map. I was sooooo tired last night!

That is great! Garage sales can be so hit or miss. It sounds like yours was a hit!
Garage sales are a great way to clear out the excess in a house.
Fun to watch the people too.
I hope you're gonna buy fabric with all that xtra money now.
Good for you taking the time to put together your stuff to sell. I've had a couple of yard sales and I've got no patience for it anymore. I like the IDEA of it though! lol!
That's great that you did well on the sale. You're lucky to be in a good spot.
Sounds like you had a great garage sale! How fortunate to have someone come along and buy so much of what you had out!
wow how weird for the guy to buy stuff here to sell there - that would be a lot of shipping charges I would think - weird.
Glad you did so well with your sale.

You will enjoy the rest after all of the hard work.
I'm dying to know if the partially knitted brown sweater sold.
A KING SIZED QUILT FOR ONLY ONE DOLLAR ! Good night that was a steal.
My sister has never told me about "More on 34" I will have to tell her to get with the program.
I hope to whip up a yard sale in a couple weeks if we ever get some warm days. We literally have had 2 days with almost 80 degrees and nothing above 65 since last year. They tell us it is because the El Nino is out in the Pacific this year... it brings in the cooler temps. I doubt if we will have any forest fires this year. That is one good thing.

I am so glad all your hard work was worth it Wanda!!
I can believe you were tired. Just thinking about all you did made me want to take a nap. A queen size quilt for $1. Wow! Did you sell the little brown sweater? Just wondering. I was crocheting with that 70s Sayelle last night - making Amigurumi rabbits - and I thought of you.
I was born in 1974.. Your quilt would have been a very nice baby quilt. Nice and soft and fluffy. Garage Sales are not fun, all that hard work, and people think you should just give your stuff to them free. I hate hagglers. What is the point of pricing everything if people don't think that is the price.
I love your posts.

Garage Sales are a lot of work for the usual outcome of more then 1/2 of what you put out still being there to now pack up and take to Good will or something. However you had a fantastic day it seems so maybe I should relook at having one again.
Good for you Wanda! Sounds like a had a great day.
Wanda,
I wish I lived close to your garage sale- I would have loved to buy your quilt - what a lucky person to get a piece of your beautiful work- and what at a steal of a price.
Glad it was a great success- I know you will continue to create wonderful new pieces with your new found monies.
Warmest regards,
Anna
It sounds as if you had a very successful garage sale. It was worth all the hard work. When I price for my garage sale I usually make things cheap as I don't want to haul it back in the house. It is nice that you all had some great weather. I never heard about the more on 34. Sounds like a great gimmick to me. Good luck today.
