I have 7 diamonds sewn, 5 to go.
It was nice out yesterday so I picked up all of the branches and twigs that fell over the winter. Our first free brush pickup is Monday.
I am working on this quilt again too. I started it several months ago and then put it away. I have a few ladies who are interested in a class on it so they will be my test group to see if it will be a good class to offer. I have to finish it so I can figure the yardage for them.
Oh! my good your blog is very very pretty.I love your colours and fabrics and diseings. Is very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes feel fresh and full of energy to work on a quilt again after I haven't touched it for a week or two - I have several I need to get back to and hadn't felt like it and feel I will this week.

Hi! I love the zig zag quilt you did previously so much that I made one. I used a jelly roll. The diagonal layout was a challenge but I love how it turned out. Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteI always come to you for inspiration and you NEVER fail me!!!! The diamonds are exactly what I needed to see. Have been thinking about a color-worked shawl, so I turn to the Expert.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks!
Love BOTH quilts. Although the first one really catches my eye. I'm going to have to search through your blog to see if you talk about how you make it. Unless, you want to share a link. :) Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAs always, love the diamonds. I am making a zig zag quilt, too -- I think the way you are making this -- with 2 fabrics sewn into strips and then cut into rectangles. It's a terrific way to do it!
ReplyDeleteThe diamonds are arguably more exuberant, but I find that I prefer the second quilt: It has a definite color identity. I would look at this quilt in a show and say, "This quilt is true to itself."
ReplyDeleteSometimes "artistic restraint" is the way to go.
Love the diamonds Wanda!
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteBoth quilt tops are nice and colorful!
I was wondering about proportions on the zig zag one; it appears you did something like 3.5 inch strips sewn together, then cut into 6.5 inch blocks? Or did you do bigger strips? Not that i want to be a copy cat or anything (hah).
Happy Spring (we are grey, gloomy and rainy today).

Oh yes.....diamonds are a girls best friend...especially if they are as colorful as yours!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely progress on the diamonds. I always enjoy double clicking on a closeup so I can see the wealth of fabrics you've included in blocks like these.
ReplyDeleteVeddy interesting zigzag. I don't remember this one. I like the black-dark gray-light gray progression with the bright florals. Cool!
You are moving right along with the diamond quilt. It looks more wonderful everytime you post more diamonds. Yesterday was a nice warm day to do some chores outside. I had company so didn't realize until later afternoon how warm it had turned out to be.
ReplyDeleteWanda, These diamonds have such a movement, ... almost like the stock market tickers, or the crawlers on the bottom of the CNN channel. OK, Maybe I'm loosing it, but does anyone else get this illusion of 'movement' in this quilt? I love this 'bonus' in this piece!
ReplyDeleteSo, if you don't already question my sanity (giggle), I create with very small pieces of fabric and exotic yarns. Stop by and check it out ... what to do with the scraps
