Time to reorganize.........

This is the view from my chair looking at the top of my sewing cabinet.  After a week or 3 classes (plus prep work), a birthday party for a relative, a day of prep and then attending church sewing circle, and then yesterday the Quilts of Valor sew in,  I'm ready to stay home and reorganize.  It was like a race moving from one thing to the next.
I began clearing the cabinet top last night and started with the easy things, like this pile of 3 fabrics that I like together, that has been piled for over a year and moved from one spot to another.  I got about a third of the top cleaned off.  Today I have to go pay Dad's rent, grocery shop, and then hopefully stay home until my brother and I go over to Dad's tonight.

  1. Wanda, if you're like me, when you start clearing off you get distracted by the pretty fabrics. Would you believe I even found an unlikely combination when two fabrics fell against each other... that I later used in a quilt!?

Have a great day today and I hope you can relax a little. Today's "secret" word happens to be resse... I guess it means you'll get a bit of "resse-rest!"

  2. Sometimes reorganization is a good thing, but often times it will lead to new projects. You might find something that sparks and idea in your head and then off you go with a new project for your list. Not that this is a bad thing.

  3. Good Luck on the cleaning. I had my errand day yesterday. The fact you are taking time to organize amazes me because you have gotten so much done lately. Good Luck with the progress. Chris

  4. Your sewing cabinet looks like organized chaos to me. And there is nothing wrong with that. I had to clear off my sewing table because I couldn't find anything any more. It took me all afternoon. I have a non-sewing day in my agenda for today. Everything has to be out of my kitchen so that the demolition guys can come in tomorrow and start tearing it apart. I'd rather be sewing!

  5. I feel your pain! It doesn't take long for things to get piled up with juggling so many activities and projects.

  7. I am always amazed when I reorganize what I find - I almost always find something - a piece of fabric or tool that I had forgotten about.

  12. I thought I was the only one who pulled fabrics and then let them sit for a year. Glad to know I'm in good company.

  16. Can you tell me what size needle you use in your machine when sewing batiks? I am using batiks for the first time, and it seems the needle makes really big holes in the fabric. I have a 90/14 in the machine right now. Should I go thinner?

  17. I like those three fabrics together, too, but three does not seem like nearly enough for you! Maybe they just need some more friends to play with. I got my area semi-clean yesterday, but immediately started something else. So it goes.

  18. Oooh -- those three fabrics together are fabulous! What have you got planned for them?
I love the riot of fabric on your table before the clean-up.

  19. I reorganized my stash last week and while I was doing it came across a quilt that I had started last year and didn't finish it. So now I have it 3/4 done and then off to the quilters. Today having company and tomorrow a day of rest and sewing. Enjoy your days when you have nothing to do if that ever comes about.
