I will have to be very careful which angle I cut the last groups into so I can place the colors where I want them. I made a mistake on the last light pink group so all 4 rectangles were cut at the same angle. That means that there are only 2 positions they can be used in instead of all 4.
Here is what I want to be playing with, the trimmings after I cut the rectangles down to size. The book has you make the strip piecing way bigger than it needs to be. Some of these are 1.25" wide, others all the way up to 2.25". Sewn together I think they will make great journal covers for my notebooks. They might even be large enough for the zippered tote bags. I have a finishing class to teach today and tomorrow is the class for this strip pieced diamond quilt.
Wow - the triangles are gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteSo are so good with darks/lights.
It is coming along just beautifully!! Love what you are doing with the leftovers too!
ReplyDeleteI'm not good with geometry and always manage to cut something wrong.
ReplyDeleteIt's really pretty. I would have a hard time not to move on to the strips. That's my problem and why I have a hard time to finish things.
Those leftovers are marvelous ... I'd want to be playing with them, too!
ReplyDeleteThe diamonds are amazing. And I think the scraps would make wonderful journal coveres.
ReplyDeleteLove it!!

ReplyDeleteThe diamonds look great with the color play that you have going.
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful so far! Doesn't it drive you crazy when you cut the wrong way? At least you have plenty of other projects you can use them for. Did you mention what book you are using?
ReplyDeleteWow! I really could spend hours just gazing at the picture -- it's so much fun looking at all the different fabrics you've used.
ReplyDeleteYou are always thinking ahead. I love the quilt and I am thinking about this kind of quilt to use up my bits and pieces I have. Also like what you did with the leftovers. You are a great inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteThose diamonds in the quilt look like jewels with all the pretty colors! I'm loving it!
ReplyDeleteHappy Quilting! Have a great weekend too!

ReplyDeleteDon't you want to kit a few of these!!!! I would love to buy one. Don't have that variety in my stash.
